Hampton Inn Columbus-East

Everything was fine except the room smelled like mold and some of the towels were damp. Breakfast was fine. I won't be staying there again

This is the first time I have been disappointed by a Hampton Inn. First, when I pulled up, I found the parking area and the front of the hotel were cordoned off with no parking due to resurfacing, so I had to park on the street and walk across the grass to enter at the side door. Check-in was ok. I got to my room, got my stuff set up, and went to dinner. When I came back, I wanted to watch TV and found the TV would only show one channel, and the guide came up with most stations unavailable. I brought a laptop and HDMI cable, so I thought I would just stream YouTube TV, but the Wifi was so slow it would not stream anything without constant buffering and pixelization. Not giving up easily, I set my phone up to share its 5G connection, which worked better. Glad the breakfast was free, because it was pretty crappy. Everything was tasteless!

The rooms had a slightly musty smell. One of the rooms that we stayed in had an AC unit that kept breaking. The day time desk personnel seemed reluctant to help. Though the night time personnel took great care of us and put us in another room.

The hotel was decent but it’s older so the pictures does no justice for the place.I called ahead of time to see if they had any extra fees for like damage they told me no but when I got there it was a different story. They didn’t have any vegan/veg options for breakfast which is crazy because I pay for amenities and stuff like that. Oh and they had the maintenance man handle breakfast this morning which I was confused about because why maintenance handli anything with food. It was an older hotel they carpet look vaccum but not carpet cleaned at all, the elevators look like they haven’t been wiped down in a while. They don’t have shower liners so the floor get wet with a large puddle on the floor. The check in was smooth last night with the guy that was there and he was friendly but the girl that was there in the morning only had her head in her phone. They are close to a few restaurants so that help coming in hungry and going to get other options for breakfast this morning. The hallways and rooms smell like meldew but you can tell they covered it up with freshener or at least tried. It’s is spacious and they pool was open the hrs 9:30am-9pm, parking wasn’t checked at all. Hope that helps!!!

A good place to stay, not swim. Overall, really nice hotel with great staff and good continental breakfast food options. However, I mainly booked this specific hotel for the indoor pool so the kiddo could swim. The water was too cold for anyone to enjoy, so after the extended period of time it took for all of us to attempt to get acclimated to the temperature, we gave up. The temperature was 78 degrees, which is great for competitive swimming. But for recreational use, it’s a bit cold. I fully recommend the hotel if you simply need a place to stay, but if you have kids or love to relax in a pool, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

90% of the parking lot was resurfaced so we were told to park next door at Cracker Barrel. That lot was unlit and had people sleeping in their cars. Ended up parking in the street. The breakfast was unappealing with cold entrees and a broken waffle iron. The dining area furniture and decor was dilapidated and uninviting. Bed was not comfortable. I always seek out Hampton Inns when I travel. Maybe it’s time to change my search to another brand.
