Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy the Edison Apartments Old City

The room is very well maintained. Everything is perfect except for the check in day that we have an issue as i never rcvd a prior email for pre arrival which makes it inconvenient esp if we do not have our roaming data we might be sleeping on the streets.

The place is great especially if you are staying long. There’s a full kitchen with pot and pans, plates, cups and silverware. Washer and dryer were nice to have as well. Only reason we didn’t give a 5 star rating was due to our upstairs neighbor banging on the floor and running with heavy footsteps non stop the entire evening and into the next day. Not the hotels fault and yes I will stay there again in the future when hitting up Philly.

We live in Central PA, but were in Philadelphia Friday night to attend a concert at Brooklyn Bowl. This was a perfect location to do that. There is no parking at this location, but we used Spot Hero to book a spot at a garage that was pretty much right across the street - maybe a block up. We could have walked to Brooklyn Bowl, but it was freezing, so we used Lyft. The room was very nice, clean and simple. This would be a really nice place for a longer stay as well. The kitchen was small but with nice quartz counters and pretty much brand new appliances. Our daughter slept on the sofa bed and it was comfortable compared to most sofa beds. I was confused at first about where to go in, but only because I admit to not reading the instructions in advance! There is a side/lobby door on 2nd St. to enter with the key code. I was confused because our room was 302 and there was a 302 marked on the outside 1st floor of the same building. I think those are either larger rentals or actual apartments. Either way, I feel bad for whoever chose to live there b/c we definitely tried our code in their door first. LOL....anyway, we would definitely stay here again.

STAY AWAY. All 8 members of our party are severely ill with COVID, so we called ahead of time to either cancel or reschedule the booking - they won't do either, even for the room that was booked with a flex rate. Their service representatives are rude, and their management team has a policy of not interacting with customers. I would never book at a Sonder location again.

Area was great and felt safe to walk around. Wasn’t far from the metro which was easy to access Lincoln Financial Field and Wells Fargo Center. Only downside was the bed was very firm but my husband loved it. I found the pull out sofa to be more comfortable.

It was my first time at this Sonder. Lived up to my expectations of most Sonders. The neighborhood doesn’t have much around it but it is great if you wish to escape and not be disturb. Furthermore, the neighbor is right next to Old City and Nothern libs, so if you like partying in those neighborhoods, this is a great location. Additionally, do not come here with a car, you will not find parking and if you do, you will have to wake up very early and move it so you do not get a ticket.

Absolute disaster is all I can say about the Sonder Edison and it wouldn’t surprise me if the rest of their properties are the same. The selling point for the hotel is a great concept, an apartment hotel for those who want the conveniences of home while traveling such as business travelers or families. however I’m pretty sure this is used as long term affordable housing and a party hotel, despite the booking rules specifically not allowing partying. We saw lots of shady activity and security did absolutely nothing about it. Since you can’t get anyone on the phone and there is no staff on property you have to use their app to chat with them. We chatted them 4 times regarding noise from our neighbors. One was a “family” down the hall that easily had at least 8 people in it and was literally a revolving door. Screaming children, yelling adults, banging dishes and slamming doors were constant. The people above us sounded like a troop of elephants doing calisthenics. The construction in this absolute turd of a building is so cheap that you can hear the water from apartments above to the point that it sounds like it’s raining in your room. The front door didn’t close all the way (see picture). Finally at 11 pm we packed up and left for another hotel. The “staff” at the Sonder was good for nothing more than excuses and “we’re working on it”. DO NOT stay at this or any Sonder property under any circumstances!!!!

This place was amazing as a base to exploring Philadelphia. Rooms were perfect for sleeping, and our kids loved the black out window shades. Public transport is within walking distance, as are many of the cities top sites.

We just returned from a week in Philly staying at The Edison. We thoroughly enjoyed our time! We were traveling with our 16 and 13 year old. Plenty of space and loved the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom option. Only downside was the beds were extremely firm. We are not used to that at all. The noise level did not bother us but we did use the earplugs provided by Sonder. Our flight was delayed upon arrival which resulted us getting to The Edison close to 2 am. We had no issues with the electronic key set up in the app. We also had to reach out via messaging on the Sonder app due to a shower and chair issue. We got an immediate response and both items were resolved before we returned from our day of sightseeing. The washer and dryer were amazing and allowed us to pack light. Our family truly enjoyed the rooftop area at night. It is a beautiful way to enjoy the city. Only negative thing was parking. We rented car for one day only and we ended up at the impound lot the next day. There was absolutely no parking that night. We thought we were in a safe spot. We only used the car to take a day trip to Valley Forge and Lancaster. It was well worth the short drive. But lot after lot was full. Spot Angel was not truly accurate. However, this is not a Sonder issue, this was a city issue. So many places to visit within walking distance! Lastly, we came from a small, coastal town in South Carolina. We were concerned about safety and if this was a safe location? I would say, no matter where you are, you always need to be alert. But we never felt unsafe here. The location was just perfect!
