First of all, it's so cute!! I was expecting a tiny itty bitty European style room/inn based on the age and description - and much to my surprise, there were 3 floors with long hallways filled with rooms! We had a room with 2Q, and it was much bigger than any of the box hotels we've stayed in. I read a prior review about the great shower heads - and YES! I actually enjoyed washing my hair! The beds were probably the best part - so plush and so many pillows. The location is right in the heart of the pedestrian area of campus. Great for food, coffee and late night walks around campus. No fridge or microwave, but there was a micro in the basement along with a toaster oven. Totally fine and super cute. And our room did had no orders or of smoke or pets even though it's super pet friendly.

We had a lovely stay. We always enjoy combining a trip with getting to know a university campus, and so we took walks whenever we had down times during our weekend trip for a wedding. The staff was friendly and helpful. We certainly recommend the Conwell Inn for visitors to Philadelphia!

If you have a student or business with Temple University, the Conwel Inn is the ideal place to stay. Parking is convenient, it's close to several places to grab a bite and the rooms are great. My last stay, however, was frustrating. Upon checkout on 5/4/2025 I wasn't able to exit the hotel due to a road race that was on Broad St. The street (and my exit onto the street) was closed down from 7am until 1:30 pm! I can't believe nobody mentioned that prior to checking in or during my stay. I finally flagged down a police officer who let me drive on the sidewalk and go down a one-way street the wrong way.

My recent stay was great! The room, located on the second floor, was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Despite being in a busy area, it was also surprisingly quiet. The front desk staff, both day and night shift, were polite and attentive.

Convenient of you’re visiting Temple University. The inn is nothing special but the staff is great. The young men and women who work there are helpful and friendly. The inn is directly on campus so nights can be loud. My only complaint is that the AC was not working and the room was stifling hot. We didn’t notice until late so did not bother to call for maintenance in the middle of the night, our fault. I’ve stayed at the Conwell many times and have found it just fine.

Pro: On campus; Con: Needs big updates & AC
It's clean and safe and right in the heart of campus. But the air conditioning does not work, the tubs don't drain very well (meaning: you're showering in a pool of dirty water), and there are essentially no amenities whatsoever (no fitness center, in-room fridge, safe, or even a phone to call for help). If you can, bring a fan to compensate for the lack of A/C. The location is terrific and the hotel is overall clean and trustworthy. But it's long overdue for a basic renovation (rooms likely date to the 70s/80s). If you have difficulty sleeping when the room is too warm, this may not be the place for you. It's far from food (save for the campus pub & 7/11). But you don't have to be afraid of your surroundings and the campus is gorgeous.

The Conwell Inn was the perfect place to stay for our 24-hour trip to see our Temple Owl dance at Conwell Hall. The room was spacious and we loved having an affordable spot right behind the Inn. It's also nice to be so close to Saxby's!
