I am just finishing a stay at the Penn View Hotel. It was one of the less expensive options when booking through the site my company uses so I was skeptical but other members from my team were staying here so I decided to give it a try. It is a gem of a hotel in a great location in Old City walking distance to great restaurants, the President's house and other historical sites. You can tell that it is family owned as there is a great attention to detail. The rooms are very clean and well cared for. Wifi was easy to log onto and works very well. The bed was very comfortable. There is a wall AC but it cooled the room well. The rooms have high ceilings and mini balconies. It feels as though I am in a bedroom vs. a hotel room. There is an Italian restaurant on the first floor that I unfortunately will not have time to try but the menu looks great. I would definitely recommend this hotel - it is a great value!

The advertisement is misleading. Its”stunning river views” are rather distant over highway construction. Its balcony overlooked a parking lot. Unlike every other hotel I have stayed in for the last twenty years there was no coffee machine or microwave. To get coffee before 7/when it was served you had to walk to the WaWa blocks away or track down a Coffee shop open early. Though the hotel seemed fairly empty room still weren’t available until check in. Seems had to actually complain about that, but many will let you check in early under such circumstances. The photos. Of the rooms appear luxurious. They aren’t. Finally just isn’t that much cheaper, if at all, than many better hotels nearby.

The hotel has very well-preserved Baroque architecture, a historic hotel with a grand character and elegance. The service is outstanding; Antonio at the front desk is the soul of the hotel, he deserves a raise. He's a charming and very helpful person. This hotel has become one of my favorites in Philadelphia. The room was very comfortable with a historic, cozy, romantic, and very charming feel.

Rooms I was in was a queen with a small balcony that looked out on the bridge that takes you from old city to the water front. There was a somewhat restricted view of the Delaware river but it was visible. Noisy but very cool to open a window and get a vibe of the city. Great location for historical as well as old city nightlife. Fun to walk in any direction to enjoy and explore, Parking is tight but right next to the hotel and the space is open, outside, under the foot bridge. It felt very secure for an outdoor parking spot in Philly. Bathroom was very good size with good water pressure, Extremely comfortable bed. Great restaurant in the building and multiple options anywhere you walk.

Stayed two nights in a large upper room with river view and fireplace. Will stay again on our next visit to Philadelphia. Outstanding staff – friendly and professional. Have dinner in the excellent attached Italian restaurant and be sure to ask for your 20% meal discount when you check into the hotel.
