Philadelphia Marriott Old City

I recently stayed at the Philadelphia Old City Marriott and had a great experience overall, but I especially want to shout out Zeek, the tall gentleman from the valet team. I didn’t have any cash on hand to tip (which I felt bad about), but I truly appreciated their kindness and attentiveness. One evening, my Uber Eats driver went to the wrong location, and Zeek took it upon himself to walk all the way around the corner to track the driver down and personally bring my food to the front of the hotel. I told him he didn’t have to do that, and he just smiled and said, “It’s really no trouble — I’m happy I could help you.” After a long day, that small gesture made a big difference. Everyone else at the hotel was also lovely and super friendly. The staff here really go above and beyond.

The hotel itself is visually attractive. The design, decor, etc. It looks like an upscale 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. No doorman or bellman to assist with luggage. The Front Desk never offered assistance at check-in with luggage. No upgrade for a Bonvoy elite even though every category was available at the time of check-in. No welcome amenity of any kind, unless you count two plastic bottles of purified water that were probably bought wholesale at Costco or Sam's Club. The room itself featured one of the newer Marriott design iterations. Limited in-room amenities with nothing provided except a pen, a couple loose note sheets, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and soap. For example, no mouthwash was provided. There were two wine glasses but no corkscrew. There's a club lounge, the M Club, for Bonvoy platinum elites and higher. They also sell access to non-elites who book a room with lounge access. The lounge's offerings are awful and among the worst that I've seen at a hotel selling club lounge access. The evening offering consisted of two fried foods at night with no sign saying what they were, some cubed cheese (again who knows what kind because there was no sign), crackers and vegetables. That's it. No alcohol. Not even an honor bar. I never saw an attendant in the lounge. The cans of Pepsi and other soda were mini-cans, not full-sized cans. All things considered, this supposed 4-star Marriott hotel is below the standard you expect. If you take away the club lounge or the bar/restaurant, the overall experience is basically that of a Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn or Hampton Inn. Save your money and book one of those hotels.

It’s unhygienic old hotel . Carpet was filthy , gym did not have ac , 80 degrees temp . Staff was nice md embarrassed for the property . I was charged 371$/night instead of 200$/ night meeting rate . To boot the anguish they billed the whole 485 was billed on 23 rd May to the card prior to my coming on 4 th June . They better refund the money of what they overcharged.
