Rich in contradiction and teeming with visual myth and rhythm, each room is an idiosyncratic destination all its own, with references culled from Art Deco movie palaces, the filth of John Waters, The Imperial New Delhi, defunct ancient languages, and the color-blocked patterns one sees from a moving train. Each room offers inspired amenities, decadent minibar offerings, a proprietary fragrance, custom bath products, and color televisions. Beds are outfitted with handmade quilts inspired by the iconic Baltimore Album Quilts, and emblazoned with invented languages. (We think this makes for better dreaming.)

Front desk service was welcoming and accommodating. We were worried we might not make it to the checkin deadline. But the receptionist noted our situation and made sure we were able to have a room. The receptionist was informative on what the Inn offer such as breakfast and events.

I liked the hotel, room, and staff. All very nice. The breakfast was weak, so I ate elsewhere. What appeared to be a $220/night room, ended up being $290+ after "Mandatory Fee" and taxes. A bit misleading.

For location, price, atmosphere, and service, the Alexander Inn is exceptional. (We travel a lot.) We stayed four nights of a nine-day sweep through Amish Country and Philadelphia. The location is ideal, on the edge of a picturesque historic neighborhood of 18th and 19th century homes but one block from an area of excellent restaurants and clubs. About five restaurants recommended in our guide book were within walking distance. The hotel vibe is quiet, personal, and gracious: the staff could not be more helpful. A plentiful breakfast and the complimentary wine and cheese hour added a homey touch. We found our room too small on arrival so the front desk moved us to a gracious, spacious one for only a $5 upgrade. Ask for a corner room!

We had a great couples getaway! The room was spotless, the staff was friendly, and the location was perfect for walking to restaurants and attractions. Loved the charm and character of the inn. Would definitely stay again!
