We were held at reception for nearly an hour when booking in as we had ID with our driving licence but we did not bring our passports as we live in Ho Chi Minh. Interesting that the holiday Inn located in the same lobby does not require passports for check in but Intercontinental claim it is required by law. Clearly they are making that up! Disappointing for what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel!
The rooms are really nice, but it took some time to get over the incident above.
When you are in the hotel your only option is to buy food from them and they raise the prices significantly. We ate at their burger place as friends had children with them and the quality was way below what you would expect from a five star hotel and the prices they charge. Something to consider before booking.
