Garrigae Distillerie de Pezenas - Hotellerie & Spa

This was our second stay. The hotel has deteriorated. We were told that it was now run by a separate management company. They are not doing a good job. Cleanliness was questionable - black fungus in the shower, which was a shared space with the WC, and so small that it was inevitable that water would go all over the place. Maintenance was just neglected - empty planters between balconies where there used to be plants, now virtual ashtrays. Dead plants in pots around the terrace. Door locks broken, now with DIY improvisations and keys that would be suitable for a small cupboard. Breakfast cutlery and crockery of mixed origin and generally poor quality. No sun protection on the terrace where breakfast was served, although at least two large sunshades were there, but not unfurled. Rips in the (useless) fabric covering. Uncontrollable, and noisy, air-conditioning. This is all a great pity, as the location is great and the style of decoration is pleasantly simple modern, but with interesting touches. Staff seemed a bit defensive and demotivated when problems were pointed out to them. No recompense was offered. Would we go back? The position might clinch it, but we would think carefully before booking it again. It needs tender loving care very badly. It is not a 4-star establishment as it is now.
