We had a family reunion at Tenkiller Lodge with 21 “first cousins” from one family in attendance from July 23-27, 2025. Attendees came in from all over the United States—from Sacramento, CA to Gaithersburg, Maryland—and all places in between! I was very pleased from the point of making reservations for myself over the telephone to the friendly service of the motel staff during my stay. We reserved enough rooms that we had complimentary access to the spacious event center for all our family’s gatherings during our stay. (We had to bring all our pots, pans, and other supplies for cooking and serving several of the main meals there. The event center was equipped with plenty of tables and chairs, a small kitchen with a refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave, dishwasher, cabinets and two restrooms. ) Our motel rooms were well-appointed, clean and attended to daily by the motel staff, who did a great job! (The only thing I might suggest is an upgrade in mattress quality.) Our stay was made even “sweeter” by Nancy’s Homemade Pies and Cafe next door! (All the pies were delicious and my favorite was the coconut cream.) Our family has deep Cherokee roots and staying at Tenkiller Lodge gave us access to the many museums, resources and historical sites in and around Tahlequah (9 miles) and also Muskogee (30 miles).

Stayed here for a family reunion. The foot of the bed was a good 2 inches higher than the head of the bed plus the whole mattress was very lumpy and the edge was so worn out you couldn’t get close to it or you would roll out in the middle of the night. Once I turned on the AC unit, I noticed a definite cigarette ashtray smell permeating throughout the whole room coming from the AC unit. My family members who came to visit me in my room, even commented that the place smelled like an ashtray. The freezer section of the little refrigerator was needing defrosting when I checked into the room and sure enough it started defrosting itself, dripping water out and there was a 5‘ x 4‘ puddle in the middle of the floor. I complained to the weekend staff and was told they couldn’t move me to another room because they were full. Manager reimbursed me one night (out of the 4) due to flooding room. The coffee maker still had the coffee grounds from the previous hotel guest, it had not been cleaned out by housekeeping. There were clumps of hair in the bathroom on the floor and also in the tub. I stayed here four nights and the last night I moved to the other bed, hoping it would be flatter. In the morning, I woke up and looked at my arm, and I had bedbug bites! Disgusting place.

Recommended We love staying there as it is quiet and inexpensive yet the rooms are decent and comfortable. They don't give enough towels eventhough you put there would be four people in the family. They maybe are kids but they need towels too. We will stay there again.

Its was so easy to check in, they were very nice, it was available when no one else was, and even when my wallet was stolen and I could not pay for the room on time. The office was very understanding and allowed me to go make a way to get the money and pay for it. Without kicking me out of my room. The room's essence when we walked in was so comfortable and welcoming. After staying in the slums of near by motels. It was like heaven on earth and the beds are so soft. NOW the heating/air unit works like charm weather it's high 80's or low 40's...

Quiet & cozy Cozy, quiet out of the way place to stay with plenty of parking. Very roomy, comfortable bed and furniture, has small refrigerator/freezer and microwave. The only drawback for me was there was no blowdryer, so bring your own if you need one. Has a great restaurant across the street called Big Red Restaurant. It's only a short walk to get there. Great food, great service, and affordable.

Quaint lodge in small town OK. Loved the receptionist and the cat in the reception was a great touch. Highly recommend.
