Check-in went great, it's a shame we were given one of the rooms in the main building though. The room itself clearly hasn't been renovated in years, except for what looked like recent attempts to cover up the black marks (mold?) above the (small) window and in the bathroom, and everything felt very dated. There were random marks on the wall, the bedside lamps both make an annoying humming sound when they're switched on, and for some reason there is no central ceiling light so to compensate there are extra (dim) lamps along the walls. Not all that useful if you're trying to find something in a suitcase. We didn't even have the fancy purple ***** light above the bed. Entertainment: The free wifi is enough for non-streaming use, though you'll have to reconnect all the time. The TV is an ancient 720p thing with no access to a USB port and an inability to use a 4K Fire TV Stick in the available HDMI port. All you get is Freeview (not Freeview HD) and half the channels don't work. Don't expect to entertain yourself in your room, is my point! The bathroom was adequate, I advise bringing your own toilet roll unless you want to use their tissue dispenser, and the shower in my room was a bit finicky. The extractor fan didn't seem to do anything, as everything in the bathroom was still wet hours after we'd both showered, and even leaving the light/fan on all day while we were out didn't dry the room out. You'll want new towels every day, which are not provided unless you specifically request them. I did ask the front desk to note down that the mattress needed replacing, but was told that it had in fact been replaced last year (which surprises me, since clearly nothing else has been!) so apparently the new ones are rock hard! I miss the old pillows too. All in all, this is not a good example of a Premier Inn (Farnborough is much nicer, fyi) but it'll do if all you need is somewhere to sleep. Just don't use the air conditioner before bedtime or you'll have to listen to it gurgle for an hour. :)
