Hacienda la Rusa

I am never one to complain, but I wouldn't stay here again. Pros: comfortable beds Good internet except for the great room at the street end of the property. Excellent proximity to town with food stores and restaurants right next door. Excellent proximity to ocean being directly behind the property. Excellent parking right behind the property. Air conditioned except for one room above the kitchen. Staff on site for cleaning and meals if you want to pay for them. Cons: the layout of this place is very roomy, but it's a concrete jungle, there is zero green space to sit under a tree or connect to anything resembling grass There is zero room to sit near the pool under a tree due to the terrible design here There is tons of space to have your own space, which makes sense when renting the rooms to multiple guests, but is a total waste when staying here as a large family The hot water shower in the great room at the street was only hot 50% of the time Bring bug spray as the entire area, not just this place has mosquito and no-see-ums. Not the worst, but be prepared. Overall, a fine vacation but if you want to lay in the shade and be a part of nature without leaving this place, this is not the place.

Everything was very nice and especially the site of the beach, the staff very friendly and the guest too. The room and the restroom wonderful live it. The only thing i didn't like was the shower head needs to be updated but other than that LOVE IT. Thank you

I stayed at La Rusa with a broken toe. The staff could not do enough. Meals were brought to me, the smiles were constant. The grounds are marvelous. The pools so clear and clean. I ended up staying for 3 months due to my injury and will be back again.

I've stayed here a few times and love it. The property is rustic and comfortable and offers a home environment with friends. All of the guests are very friendly and quickly become friends. The rooms are very nicely appointed with each having its own unique design. The rooms are decorated using traditional and contemporary touches; each room is spacious and comfortable. The "common" space is open and breezy with two small pools to choose from, plenty of comfy chairs to curl up with a book, and tables all around to mingle with other guests. Beach chairs, yoga mats, books, puzzles, and ping pong are all available for use and the house is located just steps from the beach. The little town of Barra is authentically Mexican with several enramada restaurants situated right on the beach. If you want to spend your days watching the locals fish, playing on the sand, and eating amazing, fresh seafood, look no further.
