Akasha Retreat - Adult Only

The restaurant was absolutely fantastic. The food was all homemade, with a diverse menu featuring both meat and vegetarian options. Everything was grilled or roasted, making for healthy yet flavorful dishes. The host, Daniala, was exceptional—her hospitality truly went above and beyond. To top it off, the breathtaking view was the cherry on the cake. Highly recommended!.

Set in the Carpathian Mountains just a 3 hour train trip from Bucharest, Akasha Wellness Retreat is everything one could want from a specialty lodging. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a special guest. The setting of the lodge is breathtaking and the amenities ultra comfortable. This is a place for people looking for time to relax, do some Yoga, get a massage, sit in the outdoor hot tub or take a sauna after an ivigorating hike or horse-back ride. The food is all prepared with freshness, variety and flavour in mind, from the buckwheat pancakes with pine honey and toasted walnuts for breakfast to the vegetarian moussaka for dinner. This is a place to cleanse the body and the mind whilst enjoying one of the prettiest places in all of Romania.

My recent stay at Akasha Wellness Retreat in Transylvania was an absolute delight. Daniela was very welcoming on our arrival alongside all her staff throughout the stay. One highlight was a village walk with Bursuc and Luna who are the sweetest dogs we have met in a while! The property's location is like something out of a fairytale, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere. The food was delicious and healthy, and the staff were incredibly warm and accommodating throughout my visit. Yoga sessions were fantastic too but we just hoped to do them outside but the weather did not allow - next time we will book in the summer to catch the sunshine on the terrace in the morning. Highly recommended for a rejuvenating getaway!

For sure it's the most beautiful place I've been in Romania and is the first place where the reality looks better than the pictures on the website. Everything was lovely from the moment we got in. The smell of the place, the gorgeous furniture and the superb room that we stayed in. The staff is very friendly, always smiling and making efforts to make you feel at home, have a good vibe to them. The food served is vegan and it is absolutely fabulous. Yoga classes have been such a blessing and the yoga instructor, Michelle, is amazing. The spa combined with the incredible view makes it feel like a piece of heaven. I totally recommend it especially for couples or single persons in order to benefit and enjoy all the services.

At Akasha we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the good old days of childhood, healthy food and a positive and harmonious atmosphere. We participated in a retreat program that included hiking, yoga sessions, a massage session, access to the sauna, jacuzzi (by appointment), meditation sessions, cooking workshop and all three meals a day. Retreats are on certain days at certain times, find the packages and information on their website. Otherwise, outside of the retreat programs, you can go for comfortable accommodation and beautiful views. The food is worth special mention, as the menu is egg-lacto vegetarian, very tasty and varied. If you are vegetarian and looking for a place to eat in the area, there is also the option to come just for lunch, but necessarily with a reservation in advance.

A truly special place, in a truly special part of the world. From the views, to the quality of yoga teaching, to all of the extra facilities - hot tub, sauna, massage, not to mention the food, Akasha is a wonderful place. We stayed for four nights on the wellness package, which also included trips like horse riding and lunch in a beautiful local village, a guided tour to Bran Castle, which is very close, local hiking, plus transfers from Braşov station. We ran out of days but there were many varied options of things to do in the area. If you are a yoga/wellness obsessive, or travelling alone, it is worth noting that some times Akasha accepts non-retreat guests. Post-COVID, the retreat centre has had to ensure it also appeals to domestic guests, with International guests unable to travel. This really added to the experience for us as we were in the company of many Romanian people with a love of the area (rather than Brits talking about England). But if this would be a problem for you, you can check with the owner whether Akasha would be dedicated to a wellness retreat during your stay, or open to wider guests. And in any event, Akasha is much more than a hotel, or a yoga retreat, though technically it is both these things. It’s a feeling - and truly a beautiful experience, where we were able to access some of the very best parts of the area without even having to hire a car. Coming from the UK and having done yoga holidays in both France and India, we felt this was very well priced. With two excellent yoga sessions a day, tailored to our needs and truly suited to all standards. Plus getting there was easier than we first thought. We flew into Bucharest airport direct and took the train one way (£5 each) and took a car the whole way in the other direction (£90). Akasha arranged for our taxi from the station at no charge. With flights launching to Braşov from England in June, it will be even easier to reach Akasha and we definitely want to return. We feel very lucky to have experienced this amazing part of the world.
