Nevis Estate Boutique Hotel

This boutique hotel is a very nice B&B situated just outside downtown Perth. On arrival there is a requirement to use their slippers even though we had our own - rather quirky start to the stay. Our room Ardbeg was large and comfortable but the bathroom was small, the shower particularly so. The bar for the establishment has quite restricted hours but we enjoyed drinks by the pool sitting on comfortable seating in the shade. The grounds are pretty with trees. We only met two members of staff who were extremely nice and catered for our foibles without any fuss. The downside of the establishment, and it doesn’t feature in their website, is the railway line at the side of the property. Trains run throughout the day and night and use their very loud warnings of approach as they pass by. Ear plugs are provided in the rooms but they help little with the vibrations! Nevertheless this was a pleasant stay and the trains were just another quirk to add to the experience.

My Wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Nevis Estate in Perth to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed. The booking was seamless and from the time we walked in the doors we were warmly welcomed. The staff we met were very helpful, they even upgraded our room. The grounds are beautiful and the house is exquisitely decorated. The room was very spacious, the ensuite was amazing and the the mattress was very comfy. We paid a small extra fee to check in early and we took advantage of the great weather to enjoy the pool. We went to dinner at one of the great restaurants in Perth and then walked through the beautiful park in the center of town before returning to Nevis Estate and spent some time enjoying the evening weather in the screened in gazebo. We will definitely return to Nevis Estate.

The venue was first class, and the staff were efficient, helpful and friendly, Breakfasts, bar, outdoor pool and lounge facilities were excellent. Highly recommended..........................................................

Great experience! Everything is very well taken care of and the attention to details is amazing! Thank you Rona, Payton and the other very nice lady who prepared our breakfast! She gave us some great tips about what to do in Perth. Take some time to enjoy the cozy sun room next to the swimming pool or grab a book or magazine (they have a bunch) and relax next to the fireplace. The bar has a nice atmosphere! If you have kids, there is plenty of room to run and play around the building and it is all fenced. We had the light breakfast (the simpler option) and there was nothing simple about it! Delicious pastries, fruit and yogurt! Yes, the train tracks are right next to the property and you will hear the train honking, but that did not take any of the positiveness of this experience! The only room that is on the ground level is The Talisker and it is closer to the breakfast area. If you are looking for more privacy and quietness, pick one of the other four rooms. They are all upstairs.

It's a beautiful spot but the bed was REALLY AWFUL. We stayed in the Lagavulin room and the bed was a Queen-sized SPRING mattress that made it impossible for us get comfortable. You feel every move your partner makes and the way the mattress slopes made it so feet would constantly slide off the bed, waking you from sleep. On top of this, the light from the hallway streams in to the room from under the door and the mini fridge makes a loud noise when it turns on. One of the worst, least restful sleeps of my life. We rarely get a night away from our young children and this did not deliver the relaxation and good night's sleep we were banking on. For all the money spent to make this place look amazing, and price one spends to stay at the Estate, it baffles me that the owners decided to skimp on the beds. King-sized, foam topper beds in all rooms should be a must. And DIM THE HALL LIGHTS after 10pm, or provide better light masking around the doors. To top it all off, the bar was closed so we had to sip cocktails from the minibar in our room. All in all, not what we were hoping for.

As usual, our stay at Nevis Estate was excellent. The staff are wonderful and breakfast was excellent on both days. The hotel is a wonderfully renovated old victorian home with both modern conveniences and the old charm of the original home. We enjoy every stay here and highly recommend making it part of your trip to Perth. I even bought a pillow to take home with me as they are so comfortable.
