Four Points by Sheraton Penticton at the Convention Centre

Enjoyed this newer hotel but it had several basic things missing that should be mentioned. First off, no glassware in the room (only paper cups) and no bar soap (not even small sample size). Should be an option there. The shower is new, however the water pressure is very low and sputtering out, unable to adjust or increase. For a property such as this these are misses. There also was a big blank space in the room where a picture needed to hang or another piece of furniture needed to be; you can get a sense that corners are being cut. The pool (no hot tub) was too cool and unheated. The upper rooftop area is nice but you are unable to bring your own drinks, bar service only (which, when asked at check-in the lady wasn't sure of). Bedding was average. No real sense of character from the property of being in wine country or Penticton, just very corporate and sterile, yet nice. Windows in room didn't open whatsoever. Attitude from the blond restaurant guy at the entrance for breakfast when we went checking out the menu. Property also is several blocks from the lake and restaurants which was fine for us but again not ideal for the price. We liked it but didn't love it.
Fairfield Inn & Suites Penticton

We stopped in Penticton for one night, and preferring the Marriott brand, this hotel was the only choice. This was my first stay at this specific property, but I’ve been to a number of Fairfield properties before and this one fits the standard feel. We checked in at the regular time, and it wasn’t busy. We were assigned our room , got our keys and headed to our room. Room is a decent size, and looks very much like any recently renovated Fairfield. Beds are OK and WiFi was fine. I found the AC didn’t work great. The main AC unit has a label stating to use the thermostat to control. I was quite patient tinkering with different settings, but the base unit never seemed to respond. I was better off making adjustments directly on the AC unit. Breakfast is limited, but sufficient to fill up a family with little fuss. I used the gym. It’s quite small with 5 cardio machines and some free weights. There’s not much in the immediate area, other than the ****** and convention centre across the street. It’s about a 15 min walk to the restaurants along Main Street and 20 min walk to the lakefront. Our stay was fine. It met our needs. Quite expensive for a Fairfield, but it’s more of a reflection of the market rates in Penticton in the summer than the hotel itself.
Penticton Lakeside Resort

This place may be the biggest and classiest joint in town. Many rooms have great views of the lake and nearby hills. We even had a nice balcony to take it all in. There are amenities galore here, and the town centre is only a short walk away. However, everything felt kind of ‘meh.’ Perhaps we caught the staff on an ‘off’ evening, when the hotel was unusually busy during the Easter long weekend. While working very hard, they were not rude to us, but they seemed indifferent at best. And in the business of hospitality, consistency should be a huge part of the game. You simply cannot have ‘off’ nights. It does not help that the uninspired furnishings of the public areas scream generic North American lodgings. (Don’t come here depressed.) All things considered, the rooms themselves are still nice. Not surprisingly, the hotel delivers all the basics: cleanliness, adequate room temperature control, general noise levels under control, reasonably comfortable beds, good toilet pressure and water temperature controls in the bathroom, sufficient supply of towels, decent lighting options in the room, enough electrical outlets to charge your piles of modern junk, workable wi-fi, and competent housekeeping. We just wish the management can make this property as promising as the locale.
Best Western Inn at Penticton

for some reason I was upgraded to a better room than the one I booked. It was perfect. Unasked for, I also received the quietest location in the hotel. My room was large, had microwave and kitchen. During Covid you never know what you're going to get, however I was very pleased with everything.
