A very beautiful castle hotel. The dinner was also very good. It is worth staying here to feel the history of the castle and leave it with such grandeur. However, the rooms are a bit old.

We attended a family wedding at Peckforton and we had a fabulous day, the castle/grounds are incredible, the wedding breakfast, canapés, evening buffet was all great and I can see the appeal to being married in such a stunning place. However, as a guest of the hotel my opinion is completely different. Terrible service, and the rooms aren’t the standard they should be for the prices charged (£175 + £60 for 2 children per night). Morning 1 breakfast was slow, after waiting 45 minutes my husbands poached eggs arrived undercooked and was returned to the kitchen, 20 minutes later after we had all eaten a new breakfast arrived for him and the eggs were now hard boiled. I was disappointed that on checkout there was a surplus charge of £5 for eggs Benedict. I don’t agree that this isn’t included in the B&B rate in the first instance given the prices charged but certainly not when you’ve waited over an hour for it and it still not to be cooked correctly. This was removed after I complained on check out, but this should have been automatic. Morning 2 there had been a mix up with the breakfast bookings and we was told we couldn’t be accommodated for breakfast, my 3 and 5 year old was upset at the thought of not getting a breakfast. Reception was no help and told us to discuss with the restaurant manager, who told us that if reception have not booked it was tough, they was full and could not accommodate us. We was eventually seated but again left us with negative feelings. The continental breakfast was not tended to and often empty (no or little fruit for the children both mornings). We stayed in the Oulton suite, on arrival there was a used razor and bar of soap left in the bathroom. There was a roll of toilet roll with one sheet of toilet paper. As though the housekeeper had been distracted or not bothered to clean at all. There was mould all over the bathroom ceiling, which is unforgivable and needs to be cleaned and painted. Interestingly I can see a review from weeks ago from someone who stayed in this room with the same complaint, and it hasn’t been addressed yet, nor has the smashed window!

I recently attended a wedding at Peckforton Castle and while the venue itself is spectacular, my experience a We booked a room that was supposed to feature a four‑poster bed and be on the same floor as the rest of the wedding party. Instead, we were placed on a different floor and the room lacked the advertised four‑poster bed. We were also woken the next morning by another wedding party getting dressed in the hallway right outside our room. When I mentioned these issues to the receptionist, I was met with a smirk and no meaningful assistance. Throughout our stay I noticed there were very few staff members around, and those who were present seemed unprepared and lacking in knowledge about basic guest services. The overall impression was that the hotel was understaffed and that training might be inadequate. The castle setting and the wedding itself were lovely, but the misrepresented room and unprofessional service took away from the experience. For the price and reputation of Peckforton Castle, I expected far better.

My partner and I stayed at the castle for our wedding anniversary and all I can say is WOW! This place is like no other. The castle itself is stunning, but the highlight of our stay has to be the 1851 Restaurant. My partner and I frequently dine at high end Michelin star restaurants, and have had our fair share of taster menu experiences, and the one we experienced here was up there. The newly refurbished restaurant is stunning, but what stood out most of all for us were the staff and specifically Tasha. I have never met a more professional, down to earth and more knowledgable member of staff than her. She made our anniversary far more incredible than we could have ever had imagined. Her knowledge of each course and accompanying wine course was incredible. We couldn’t work out the positions of staff in the restaurant but I have to say we would be shocked if she wasn’t managing it. Even when we saw her the following morning for brekafast she had the same attitude and attententiveness. Chef Brian came to our table a couple of times to talk through the dishes which was a lovely personal touch to the experience! The experience from start to end was perfect, and we will definitely be returning for every future anniversary. Thank you for an amazing weekend!

I love this place. Yes the castle is “tired” in places, and it is not going to be the nicest room I’ve ever stayed in, but there is something magical about the place - beds are super comfy, place is clean, shower has power.

What could be nicer than a break in the middle of the countryside in a castle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the location is within easy reach of Chester, Liverpool etc. While it is also a popular wedding and event venue, because of the stone construction, the tranquility in the "tower" end of the castle is not disturbed. Also, the newly opened fine dining 1851 restaurant, led by chef Brian Hughson and his team, brings an excellent 7 course taster menu and wine flight at very reasonable prices.

Went to the new 1851 restaurant for the 7 course menu tasting with the wine flight. Everything was spectacular, from pre drinks in the bar to the whole theatre of the service and the quality of the food. Holly was brilliant informing us of every dish and wine and why it was all chosen. Chef Brian and his team should all be proud of how well put together the food was. Very much looking forward to visiting again.

Went for a family wedding. Room was poor considering the cost and staff were uninterested in resolving issues. Mote that there are also multiple weddings on the same day so it is lt always an exclusive experience.
