Paxton Inn Motel

The lady that checked us in was so nice and I felt safe as well. Nice people.

Office had overwhelming odor of personal cooking and only one hand towel and one bath towel! Also bugs!

Do not stay here. Don't even book a room. They will NOT refund you no matter what. I booked a room a few nights ago so I could visit family in town. Checked in right at 6pm. The lady at the desk had to call someone else to check me in (language barrier, it's not an issue at all for me). But when she handed me the key, she never even checked my ID. Went to the room and immediately smelled cigarettes, terribly. The room looked very unkempt and felt dirty. We immediately decided we were not staying. The pillows were dirty (in the photo, that's not a shadow on the pillow), the microwave looked like it had been dropped out of a window, the sink area looked like it needed some repairing. The shower and toilet looked clean, but that is the ONLY positive thing. I barely stepped foot in there. There were bugs on the bed that did not move between the time I first checked in and the time I came back to take photos of the room, 2 hours later (I got a photo of the fly, but I did not get whatever the other bug was - it wasn't a fly). I tried to check out immediately, but the language barrier was an issue, so I went to visit family and came back later. At 8:06pm, I came back to check out (just 2 hours later). I know the time because the girl in the office (different person) made me check the time because she was bewildered as to why someone would check out so soon. She was very rude about why I wanted to check out. I simply told her the room felt and looked dirty and I did not want to stay there. She snapped back with "What's wrong with it?" and "Fine. I'll check you out." No apologies, no have a nice day. Nothing. I reached out to the travel agency I booked through, to see if they would be able to get a refund. After several attempts to contact the motel (the motel would not answer their phone), the travel agency was not able to obtain permission for a refund. This motel is dirty, the staff are rude, and I would NOT recommend anyone to stay here. Travel the 30 miles North to Gilman, or 30 miles South to Champaign. If you MUST stay in Paxton, pay the extra money to stay at the Cobble Stone next door.

I had a very nice experience staying at the Paxton Inn. I travel there almost every year. My parents grew up in Paxton, and I have many relatives still in the area. In the past, I have stayed at the nearby Cobblestone, with full amenities and 2-3 times the cost of the Paxton Inn. I was able to pay--in full--for the Paxton Inn upon booking. At Cobblestone, I had to put on a credit card and pay after I had earned the money to do so. There is a restaurant next door to Paxton Inn--good for coffee and breakfast at a small fee. The innkeepers/owner was WONDERFUL to me. After waking up to check me in at midnight, he stopped by my room later the next day to ask if I like the room, and to let him know if I need something. I was there alone--I didn't need anything but a bed to sleep in and a mini-fridge to store coffee creamer. Of course, a bathroom to shower and brush my teeth, which they have in every room. I didn't have any problem with parking--right outside of my room or the neighborhood. It's Paxton, nothing exciting ever happens here! I sat at the picnic table outside (full prairie setting) and worked on a craft for a relative until it got dark. I recommend the Paxton Inn. The owner lives there with his young family, and they work hard to earn a living and make sure their guests are comfortable.

This place is a DUMP! DO NOT STAY HERE! How is it allowed to be open? Only booked because nothing else was available. Would feel safer and cleaner sleeping in my car! LOOKS LIKE A SEEDY MOTEL AND IS SO SKETCHY - THE PARKING LOT IS HORRBLE TOO! The good reviews for this place have to be fake because there is nothing good about this dump!!!!

We stayed here out of exhaustion. It was a bad choice. The room smelled weird like it was a smoking room that was sprayed to cover it up. There was a soap wrapper behind the door in bathroom, not clean. The TV didn't work, I called the front desk with no answer, walked to the office, was given an additional remote. It still didn't work. I called the office for help, no answer again! I walked back to office. She was kind enough to walk down to check the TV. The cable was disconnected. She was able to get it working. We found out why it was disconnected. At 5 a.m. the TV came on by itself. Startled, I turned it off. A few minutes later it came back on. This happened twice. Finally we muted the TV, covered our heads and tried to go back to sleep.
