Primland Resort, Auberge Resorts Collection

Auberge Primland is a definitely a return destination. Staff is welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Food, activities, hotel and environment was all done to a pristine flawlessness. They truly wanted to take good care of us.

We arrived and were told our room wasn’t ready because the guest before us was given a 4pm check out time. That doesn’t work well when our check in was 4pm. The valet didn’t offer to help with bags upon arrival or departure. The food was just ok, nothing special. The room was good and the hiking was good. The service was similar to a budget hotel, nothing special at all and that isn’t what they advertise. This is primarily a guys golf destination. Didn’t feel like a couples or family place at all. We parked with the hotel and the returned that car covered in bird poop. All around bad management here.

Wonderful stay. It is truly a beautiful property and being able to walk outside and have the golf and hiking trails at your doorsteps was pretty special. I had some small nitpicks with not being allowed to walk the course and no twilight golf available, but overall the experience was 5 stars in all regards. It is very expensive but it is hard to imagine a nicer property.

The Primland is a beautiful resort in the remote Blue Ridge mountain region of southwest Virginia. The property is massive: it is a 15-20 minute drive down a scenic mountain road from the north or south entrance gate of Primland until you actually reach the main lodge. We stayed in one of the beautiful fairway suites ("woodpecker west") located a short walk (about 500 yards) from the main lodge. What a spectacular suite: a spacious covered porch overlooking the mountains, lodge, and the 10th hole of the golf course. There was a fireplace, TV. kitchenette, and lavatory on the first floor. Upstairs there was a large upstairs bedroom with en suite bathtub, shower, and lavatory. Everything was quite luxe. During our 4 night stay we enjoyed many hiking options, playing the top notch golf course, skeet shooting, tennis, and relaxing on the porch during the afternoon thunderstorms. Unfortunately, cloudy weather prevented us from enjoying the star gazing center at Primland. Many other activities (spa, pool, archery, off road driving, hunting etc) were available, but did not interest us. The employees at the Primland all lived in the surrounding very small towns within 45 minutes of the property, and were courteous, attentive, and seemed to enjoy working there. Were there any downsides to visiting Primland? It was a long 6 hour drive from our home in Maryland, but fortunately most of the drive was on scenic country roads. The food was very delicious and high quality, but the servings were relatively small and options were relatively limited. However, the staff was very accommodating to us in creating some off-menu options to satisfying our vegetarianism. If it is within your budget, we would highly recommend visiting Primland for a great get away in the mountains.

Woodpecker West cabin had huge KOHLER soaker tub and nice shower. Mr. Chad Trent was very happy to see us upon arrival. Mr. Trent went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel extremely special and pampered by his wonderful smiling face, great professional appearance, well spoken, put together, and just a warmth and care that we expected to receive from such a great resort like PRIMLAND. Mr. Trent is NOT just working at PRIMLAND for a paycheck! Mr. Trent TRULY loves and cares about his job which over flows to his/your guests.......(my wife and I). We felt so warmly welcomed by Mr. Trent and he made us feel very special. Almost like we were royalty. Mr. Chad Trent should be immediately promoted to a high paying management position at PRIMLAND. He will love and care for his PRIMLAND guests for all of his days! This is an employee that deserves so much more from PRIMLAND’s compensation’s package. For my wife and I Mr. Trent is that wonderful, cheerful, professional, and warm hearted “face of PRIMLAND!” Carlton the pheasant hunting range master was super friendly and great hunting guide. I really enjoyed talking and walking the hunting field with him. He is so down to earth and made me feel super comfortable. He really enjoys his job and it shows! I love that about him! Dani (manager) at the Spa was so super wonderful! Very kind and made you feel very special. She is a very generous manager. My wife and I had a GREAT time at this professional 5-star Spa. All of the staff anywhere at PRIMLAND treat you like a king and queen! I highly recommend you stay here. The prices of the food are too high, but many other great places off the resort you can eat at!

The wine tasting experience and the wine-pairing dinner in the wine cellar were exquisite! Seth Shelton made these the highlight of our stay!
