Nogal Suite Hotel Pasto

By Colombian standards this is a very nice hotel. As an American traveling with my husband’s Colombian family, I know most Americans would find it acceptable but not fantastic. Pros: very clean, there’s hot water, and the internet is strong. Cons: no elevator and noise. Our room faced the street where the front of the hotel is located, and loud traffic noise is almost constant except from about 2-5am. In addition, there are a number of nearby bars and nightclubs that keep their music blasting well into the night, it seems like they closed up shop around 1-2am. Keeping the windows closed doesn’t help (and opening them lets in car exhaust and cigarette smoke from the street). And add to this the fact that the stairwell that all guests must use was right outside our door so we heard footsteps and conversations . It made for a very noisy room and while we were able to fall asleep, we were woken up many times. I’ve stayed in a LOT worse in Colombia, though. If this hotel was in the US I’d give it 3 stars, in Colombia I’m giving it 4.
