The Fountain Inn

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fountain Inn. Polite, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Great food for both breakfast and dinner. Plenty of parking. It's a old building, so the stairs are steep, the floor boards creek and the water system gurgles - it all adds to the character of this lovely old building. We will definitely stay again.

Michelle and the staff still going out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious and superbly cooked. Even if you don't stay it is worth a visit for a meal although you will need to book in advance.

The Fountain is an excellent place to stay. Our room was clean with everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All meals were freshly cooked and delicious. Overall can't fault it and we will definitely return.

Lovely short break for the bank holiday weekend. Clean, comfortable and all the staff were excellent. Very handy for visiting friends at the Parkend caravan site. The food was excellent. Nice and quiet from 11pm. I hope to go again this year.

We found this place by chance after spending our first night in the Forest of Dean in Cinderford, and decided to loose the money we had paid for a second night there after experiencing the far better service and standards at the Fountain. Staying at the Fountain was a complete contrast to the first accommodation, and we will definitely return to this friendly, well-run pub with rooms. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable - they have even written a book about the history of the building which they sell at the bar - we bought a copy and it was a fascinating read. The meals were very well prepared, served by friendly staff. The room was spotlessly clean, everything worked as it should - we were sorry to have only one night there. We will definitely return to the Forest of Dean, and we will make sure that we stay at the Fountain again.

Stayed two nights for a short break. Very friendly staff and food excellent. Pub was busy even early in the week which is a good sign! Parkend is an attractive old mining village with a very open feel and easy access to the forest for walking or cycling. The Fountain is an old building and access up the stairs needs a little care but rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. Good value.
