Panjakent Plaza

First off, remember that you're in Panjakent, Tajikistan. I don't know how many other hotels are around (if any), so appreciate what you have. The 6th floor is still under construction, but they are putting guests in the rooms, so hope that you don't end up on the sixth floor. Th rest of the hotel is basic, but the staff are friendly and will help you with what they can. Breakfast is minimal. There is a small store adjacent to the hotel, but it doesn't have much.

Room was comortable. Hotel not near any restaurants. My guide drove me to a restaurant. Breakfast ok but when I went to get another coffee, my stuff had been moved and a reserve sign put on the table. No safe in the room. Would not recommend

Surprisingly good little hotel near the border and with good facilities. Room was spacious and clean, and bathroom had corner bath and good water pressure in the over bath shower. Air con and WiFi worked well and lots of towels provided. Staff were super friendly and happy to help in any way. Breakfast was good but the second day there were three tour groups trying to leave early, and the volume of (rude) tourists pushing and shoving to fill their faces ( and steal food for their packed lunches) totally overwhelmed the dining room. I felt sorry for the staff who were doing their best. Try to avoid breakfast at same time as your groups! Nice little convenience store next door for basic supplies.

We had a good size room on the second floor. The bathroom was a little strange in that it had a corner bath with a shower over it and a shower curtain but the water pressure was excellent. The toilet was at a strange angle sticking out from the corner. Another shelf would have been useful. The room was clean and we slept well. There was a fridge and BBC on the TV. Breakfast was ok, not a huge choice but adequate. Staff were helpful.

I generally do not like to give bad reviews but in this case I feel that it's important others are made aware of the problems with this hotel. On the positive side, beds were comfortable and the bathroom facilities were modern and in good order. Wifi worked well. Room was clean when we checked in. However, unfortunately the staff hired to operate this hotel appear not be motivated or sufficiently experienced to offer good service. When we checked in our to our room the heat was off, so the room was extremely cold (14-16 degrees; we were travelling to Panjakent in November). Even though we had made a reservation hotel staff did not turn on the heat ahead of our arrival and it took a long time for the room to warm up. We heard that other guests experienced the same problem. We were told that rooms are only cleaned every third day, so we had to re-use towels etc for the first two nights. Breakfast was poor with a lack of variety and poorly presented. For example, pomegranates were available but they were unopened and no sharp knife was available to cut them up. I was disappointed that the front-desk clerk (Kabir) overcharged me for my stay when I was checking out. The price of my room for the first two nights was set by ***********, and then I added a third night to my stay which was not reserved through the *********** website. When I went to pay, I was told by the front-desk clerk that the hotel bill was higher than what had been agreed to previously. While the amount overcharged was not large (USD12), I was nonetheless disappointed as I've never run into this problem before when arranging hotel stays through ***********. Finally, the hotel is not well-located. While I imagine it would be fine for tour groups who are dropped off and picked up in their tour bus, for anyone who wants to visit Panjakent, walk to a restaurant, etc this is not the place to stay, as you need to take a taxi to get to any decent restaurants or visit the centre of town.

You do not have much options for stay in Panjakent. Panjakent plaza seems to be one of the best options for stay here. It is basic 3* family run hotel. The rooms facing the mountains have a good view. The breakfast had limited options but enough to stuff your stomach with. It is well located - on the main street. On the flip side - The rooms were not clean and heating was not good. Overall a decent option for a nights stay.
