Mike's Beach Cottages are top notch, clean rooms, cold A/C and beers, best food in Ushongo, friendly service, and the view is absolutely stunning. You can even charter a fishing trip. Freshest dinner ever. Best time I've had in Tanzania so far. You owe it to yourself to visit Mike's Beach Cottages. Tell them Raymond sent you.

Though the place is in the middle of nowhere, the food is utterly outstanding with a care for presentation that you’d find at massive resorts in Mexico or the DR. Mike and the staff here are attuned to our experience and did all in their power to ensure we had the best time. The rooms are spacious with air conditioning and the back up generator ensures power continues despite the occasional brown outs (the place is on the edge of Tanzania after all and is remote). Bathrooms are basic, but clean. Excellent mosquito nets above our comfortable bed, and a thorough spray before we came helped with bug management. Mike catches fish everyday so expect the most delicious fresh seafood and a strikingly good curry as well! There is wakeboarding, snorkelling, and fishing excursions available. If you are looking for a very quiet, very personalized, and very genuine experience away from the noise and chaos of a Zanzibar resort, this is a great place to be. Know what to expect vis-a-vis remoteness, simple amenities, and little cell service, and you will be smitten by the friendliness, hospitality, food, and tranquility. Fully recommend.

Here you find calm and relaxing place. Food is good and staff nice and helpful. Bungalows on the beach and some bungalows has air conditioning. The best is the owner Mike. He is doing his best to make sure you enjoy your stay. We will go here again.

The beachfront location is fantastic. The bungalows right on the beach too. Unfortunately, the bungalows are a bit old and need to be overhauled. And it's very messy around the bungalows. There is an urgent need to clean up there, because it is not a pretty sight. The same goes for the beach. For kilometers the beach is filled. Also in front of the other resorts. Something needs to be done urgently there as this is a no go for European visitors. The restaurant and bar are new and very nice. The food is awesome. Rarely eaten so well. Fish freshly caught from lunch on the table in the evening. Very very great. The lovely crew, good service and phenomenal food and hospitality made up for a lot, I would have preferred to give 5.
