My wife and I went here for a marriage retreat. The property is beautiful. It was an old dude ranch that was built in the 40’s. The guest rooms are in what was originally the stables. Really neat! All the comforts of home but the rooms are very small. Especially the bathroom. However when you are staying in something so vintage it really did not matter. The main lodge overlooking the river was spectacular. We had a very enjoyable stay.

I stayed here 2/17/2024 for the ranch’s 1st annual Valentine’s wine dinner with my male partner. While the dinner, the grounds, and the event were pleasant, I ultimately ended up being ASSAULTED by the couple (male/female) next door to our room. By assaulted I mean, drug out of my room, thrown onto the concrete pavement, strangled, and bitten. We were told after the assault that the male that assaulted me had already been problematic with staff during the dinner. We were not made aware of this beforehand, which possibly would have prevented any of this from occurring. I DID NOT even get to sleep in my room given that I spent the duration of the evening/morning hours in the emergency room. I’m extremely disappointed that the ownership of the facility has yet to call or check on me since this traumatic incident occurred.

Great getaway and beautiful river venue - good consideration for large gatherings close to DFW; Friendly and knowledgeable staff; however, we stayed on a Tuesday night and staff left at 5 so no access to recreation cabin, ice, lodge until next morning. Close enough to Mineral Wells to get dinner and drinks at the few places that were open on a Tuesday evening. Fishing dock was pleasant and strolling the grounds a unique experience. Bed just okay. Room and BR extremely clean and quiet. No need to purchase Crazy water #4 because the well water is easily # 5,6, or 7. Recommend for historical and remote natural aspects.
