What a pleasant surprise! We traveled to the area for a medical appointment. I am a light sleeper and was looking for a place to stay that was not directly on busy El Camino Real. The Creekside Inn is a sprawling property with lots of character. It’s comprised of many buildings overlooking beautiful trees, flowering plants, and a (currently dry) creek bed. We had a deluxe king room that was scrupulously clean. The mini refrigerator and microwave were nice touches. The king bed was super comfortable, and the large shower in the bathroom featured a rain head shower head with great water pressure. We had a large patio overlooking a serene courtyard. Best of all, there was no traffic noise! I was disappointed that the deli onsite was closed on Sunday when we arrived, but there were several restaurants within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I can say is that the doors to the rooms are quite heavy so you can hear your neighbors coming and going. I’ve already booked my next reservation and this will be my new go-to

I cannot say enough good things about the amazing people who run this hotel. I had medical appointments in Palo Alto on consecutive days and needed a room that could accommodate my desire for certain covid mitigation/precautions (room entry from outdoors, and individual AC units.) I spoke with Roger who not only confirmed Zen Hotel’s protocols and features, he also told me they host many people who are in town for medical issues (Stanford Hospital, and other large medical facilities, are nearby) so the staff there is very careful. A few days prior to our visit, I emailed to asked for additional measures, and Jorge, the Front Desk Agent, acknowledged my request. We arrived, checked in, noted that my request had been honored, and had a quiet, comfortable visit. When I arrived home the following night there were two messages from Jorge, and one from Roger, who had called early the previous day (prior to my arrival) to ask for my credit card info which had somehow not been logged into their system. They were sold out and needed confirmation of payment from me, but — long story short(er)—I didn’t receive the messages until after I returned. They had every right to cancel the appointment but did not. They gave me the benefit of their doubt, and their commitment to serving those with medical needs. I keep getting teary-eyed, writing this. Such decency and kindness! When I called today to thank them, Jorge told me, had they had to cancel the reservation, they would have found accommodations for me in one of their affiliated hotels. I’ve never experienced this level of customer service and care from any other hotel. So thank you again, Roger and Jorge and Zen Hotel Palo Alto. I will most certainly stay at Zen again (and make sure you have all the info you need in advance!)

I am currently at the Palo Alto Inn and really happy with the overall experience. The manager could accommodate some additional requests I had, the room is very big and receives almost no noise from the traffic. Cleanliness is great. The rooms are well equipped - fridge, microwave, tea+coffee machine, TV, safe, plenty of USB charger ports. There were some complimentary drinks and sweets as a nice bonus. The location is OK, you have to walk 15-20 minutes along the El Camino in either way to hit places with some choice of place to eat or do groceries from, but that's not terrible. If you are driving anyway, it does not matter. You can also take a bus. --- Martin

First off, I'd like to give a shout-out to the night shift front desk person Tony. He was very courteous and thoughtful in helping me on my arrival day (12 midnight) and assisted with all my needs. Thank you Tony for your efforts! For the hotel in general, it seems the place is understaffed but I believe that is how other hotels operate nowadays post COVID. The location is great and is right in the middle of where I want to be north and south of Bay Area. Many rental car locations nearby so I was able to get to one within 10 mins radius. For the room, I stayed in the king bedroom pool side with patio. The bed was very comfortable and clean. However, the downside was that the connecting room doors were paper thin, and the gap between the door and the floor was more than an inch high, so I could pretty much hear every word the person was saying in the other room. They need to fix that or else guests really don't have any privacy at all. I apologize to the couple in the room next to me because I was on a call at 3am in the morning and didn't realize I had woken them up until they started talking and I knew how bad the sound isolation was. After that, whether it was day or night time, I had to resort to whispering all my conversations because I knew people could hear me in the other rooms.

The guy at the front desk of the hotel is Iranian. He has been to China before. He was very enthusiastic to see Chinese people check in. He kept chatting with my husband and asked if we wanted to delay check out. After we checked in, he gave us water and snacks. The hotel was very quiet, but the bedding was not very comfortable. Fortunately, we brought our own.

We had to change hotels due to unexpectly extendeding our stay in Menlo Park. We drove to The Cottages to see the propertly and it was exceptionally clean, well landscaped, quiet and in a safe location. When inquiring about a room for that evening, I mentioned leaving our bags during the 3 hours between checking out from the prior hotel and check in. The person at the desk got the room ready 2.5 hrs early for us so we were able use it right away. In addition, there is complimentary laundry. The machines are full sized and the hotel had a supply of pods for guest use. The breakfast was very good - fresh fruit, chobani yogurts, small honeys, jams etc. This allowed me to eat (have celiac disease, gluten allergy) and my husband enjoyed the fresh spinach egg frittata and we both loved having cappucino (other coffee choices available 24/7). Also, there are several small touches that make this a relaxing, enjoyable stay - small candy dish, fresh water, towels rolled up on sun lounges by pool, fire pit that you can light for 15 minutes to 45 minutes without asking for assistance. We will definitely be returning.

Checked in about 13.30 the young guy at the front desk said our room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm, we was cool with that. About half an hour later he said our rooms was ready. Got our keys went to the room which was right round the back the room was dark dinghy and smelly. Went bk to the front desk and said we was not happy with our room, we would like to change to a room at the front and not the back he said ok but we would have to wait, we was cool with that. Got our second room which was still dark dinghy and smelly and round the back. Went bk to the front desk I said to I noticed WHITE PEOPLE checking in after us getting rooms at the front. Finally got our 3 room which was not much better the dirt on the coat rack was disgusting the TV remote was full of dirt. Hotel like theses should be closed down. DO NOT STAY HERE

This is the best hotel to stay in the whole of South Bay Area including Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto and San Jose. I have been so impressed with the service of all the employees and specifically Madison as she not only helped me at the front desk but I saw that she was prompt to answer my questions and provide appropriate response through the Hilton Honors App too. The Hilton brand experience is also amazing at this place and all the amenities are to the point like Parking, Restaurant, Fitness Centre etc.

My top one choice to stay in Palo Alto
GGuest UserWe go to Palo Alto regularly for visits to Stanford and typically stay in one of the chain hotels. Thought we’d change it up and stay somewhere different. Dinah’s filled the bill! So cute! It’s an older hotel, but that just adds to the charm! We stayed in a deluxe garden room. The room was huge and had the most quaint little patio. It was so calming to hear the water outside and to see the koi and ducks. The room was clean and had all of the standard amenities. And, bonus, we were able to bring our dog! They even have a cute little dog park on the premises! We will definitely stay there again!
GGuest UserPros: (For this part, this hotel deserved a 5-star review) 1. Rohan the front desk manager was nice. He made me feel welcome. He acknowledged the Hilton gold member status right away and offered the perks without me asking. He offered $ 10 breakfast credit or additional reward points.Which I picked the breakfast credit. He also gave us an upgrade to a bigger room and waived the parking fee. 2. The room is really clean and everything in great order. For example, the bathtub held the temperature of water for a long time and the shower drains fast. The bed is firm, which I like a lot. The thermostat, the refrigerator, the TV, etc all in great condition. The edges of the bathroom walls or around the bathtub also looked very clean. 3. The gym, the swimming pool, and the hot tub are all well maintained.4. The location is really good. Close to all the places we need to go. 5. The room does not have any strange smell. Cons: (For this part, one star out of five was removed) 1. Billing system: Used the Hilton app to checkout on my mobile phone. The pdf of the receipt never arrive in my email. So I went to the front desk to ask for a printout of the receipt. That was when I found out that all the perks (waive parking fee, breakfast credit, etc) promised at check-in for gold member status were not honored and my credit card was charged. The front desk manager could not find the credits in the system until I mentioned Rohan's name. Then the credits were finally applied and I got a new receipt. So it is always a great idea to make sure you review the receipt before leaving the hotel to avoid surprises like that. 2. $12.95 continental breakfast per person is steep, considering what you get. There are just some cut fruits, pastries, and bagels, and Quaker instant oatmeal in the cup. I was expecting some eggs, pancakes or hash browns for that price. I don't recommend it unless you need the convenience of eating breakfast in the hotel and you are given the $10 credits. 3. Instructions about the facility are lacking: I could not find the pool hours and breakfast hours on the hotel website or in the app. I did not see any posted signs about the hours, either. Had to ask the front desk for information. 4. The blackout curtain in the bedroom cannot totally be pulled to the center to cover the entire window. It left a big gap (about 4 feet wide). got woken up by the bright light early. 5.$15 parking fee.
GGuest UserTHE GOOD: The hotel was recently renovated, rooms are nicely renovated with beautiful bathrooms. A nice size fitness center and a small but nice pool area. THE BAD: Wifi was absolutely horrible, there was ZERO wi-fi service in the lobby, restaurant or pool area. The Wi-fit would connect for 2 - 3 seconds then drop. When I asked the attended at the café if I could use the Westin Meeting wi-fi I was told no, they don’t have the password. In my room every so often the wi-fi would drop and it would take 20 – 30 minutes to reconnect!!! Furthermore, the power outlet at the desk was dead, there was also no power near the bed to plug in your laptop! Sadly, the food and beverage offerings at this hotel are on par with a Holiday Inn Express. There is no full-service restaurant, just a grab and go café which serves mediocre food. There is a limited breakfast buffet in the morning with poor quality food. On both mornings of my stay the scrambled eggs were a rubbery mess, the breakfast potatoes lacked flavor. The only item that seemed decent to eat were the fresh berries and bread. The quality of the food from room service/grab and go was also upsetting. If you want a full-service dinning experience, you are told to walk over to the Sheraton…. really? BTW: I was told the hotel kitchen is also located at the Sheraton, food is not cooked onsite at the Westin. Hospitality at the hotel is hit and miss. The front desk seems pleasant, but staff were very hesitant to go the extra mile to please… they lacked the hospitality soft skills I have experienced at other hotels of the same caliber. Café staff is very unhelpful, not very friendly, I receive a far better guest experience at my local In-N-Out Burger. In the end if you are expecting an upscale hotel experience in the Palo Alto / Stanford area the Westin disappoints. For the price I would expect a memorable experience, one where you would hate to leave and could not wait to return. During my stay I was looking forward to leaving, I really felt like it was a waste of $$$ and time staying here. When I left, I felt like I had just stayed at a Holiday Inn express with upscale rooms. Hotel should be rebranded... it's not an upscale full service hotel that is about hospitality with a mindset of wellness.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the central city, the facilities in the room are clean and tidy, the toilet and furniture materials are exquisite and in line with the price, but the face tissues are really bad! Mineral water is not provided either. It is said that it is environmentally friendly to provide you with two sports kettles for free. Do you go to the second floor to fetch water yourself? 🤐 The breakfast place is very small, the elevator 🛗 is only one, there are no public places and facilities, and there is no place to sit with a friend. There is a Japanese restaurant on the first floor downstairs, the dishes are good! But you need to pay a deposit in advance. The price is average.
GGuest UserI didn't realize how beautiful and charming this hotel would be. It is really lovely. Lobby is full of history, nice little plaques explaining the fireplace, wrought iron lamp, etc. Room was simple, spacious, clean, airy, and extremely comfortable. Excellent reading chair, desk chair with height adjustment (thank you!), great toiletries, very quiet and peaceful. Very friendly down-to-earth desk staff. Fantastic location, totally walkable everywhere. Coffee in lobby in the morning. Would gladly stay here again.
GGuest UserThis is an old-fashioned motor inn in the heart of Palo Alto. It has pet friendly rooms for $30 extra, which is cheaper than other places we looked at. The room was small but sufficient, and was very clean. The bed was comfortable but the pillows pretty flat.. The staff were friendly. The location was in walking distance to restaurants. There was no breakfast to speak of, just prepackaged pastries. If you have a dog, you have to walk a couple of blocks to get to some grass. All in all this was a great place to stay on our trip.
李李It takes about seven or eight minutes to drive to Stanford. The room is very spacious and the space for activities is large. The boss is very enthusiastic. Before we checked in, we turned on the electric heater and the TV was switched to the Chinese station. You may know that we are from China by looking at the name of the order. Fair, if you need hot water, talk to the front desk when you check in. A kettle is provided and parking is free
YYONGZHIFrom the nearest car hotel to the location, the waiter at the front desk had a good attitude. I used the app to talk to him very smoothly. Check-in includes daily self-service reception at the reception, with slices of bread, milk, fruit, coffee, orange juice, cereal, etc. It is too convenient for me. Is the price expensive, who makes him in the center of the universe?
MmadsillyVery good stay experience, first of all, the surrounding environment is very comfortable, is the center of Palo Alto, but not the big city of San Francisco, called downtown, there is a main road, beautiful and prosperous. Stanford University is right next to me, I go to the campus every day. It’s much more comfortable than living in downtown San Francisco. The breakfast was very good. The room is comfortable and quiet. The only downside is that the room is small, but I don't mind this.
