We booked a room as a place to stay when we were in town for a funeral. As anyone should understand this is not something you can plan for, we were notified on a Friday of the passing of a loved one and booked that night for the following day check-in. During our trip in to town we were asked to stay with family (less than 24 hours from the time we had booked the reservation) I called the front desk and talked to Patrick, I explained the situation and informed him I needed to cancel to which he informed me that there wasn't a way around the hotel charging one full night "it's our policy" I was told. This seems pretty ridiculous considering the circumstances, just a way for a national hotel chain to money grab. Thanks a lot for your understanding... I see on their corporate website IHG.com that they offer bereavement rates, I would've thought that they would be understanding in the event of a cancellation while we navigate this event as well.
