Positives : Comfy bed , Entertainment , bar , lovely looking reception area Negative: 2 of the staff we found rude & condescending with some of the other members of our coach trip who were of a certain age . Quantity & Quality of some of the food was poor . Room service was poor , I put towels down in the morning but returned to the same dirty towels put back on pegs , and ran out of toilet roll one day as service staff didn't leave a spare roll , additional charge for tea coffee items within room five pence an item , no hot water coming out of washbasin , shower either too hot or too cold , had to buy bottled water due to tap water having a distinct horrible taste possibly water boards fault . I would suggest rearranging the seating area within the entertainment room , removing some of the large chesterfield settees and putting tables & chairs there , felt more like a waiting lounge . Public toilet NO hand drying facility, Air dryer broken , would have thought they would have put paper towels as a replacement. Hotel has potential but needs serious changers . Won't be going back

On arrival hotel looked great with a really welcoming smart entrance and reception area. We arrived early so went into the lounge bar with our luggage to wait for checking. Ordered some drinks from the bar and sat to relax. Receptionist called us together and there started the rules and regulations talk, as if we were 10 year olds, despite being given written instructions .Room keys given out and we all checked into our rooms. Looked ok but small is an understatement, opened my curtains and they became detached from the curtain rail, they were the cheapest you can buy on the market. Hubby managed to put it back up. The usual cheap coffee/tea facilities, I always bring my own because of this. Hubby had a shower and not amount of trying to adjust the temp worked so a scolding shower it was. Breakfast was very bland and cheaply put together, again cheap coffee. We had to choose our dinner selections ready for evening meal and were told that if we were not turning up for the meal we MUST let them know in advance as they didn’t want wasted meals. Ok so I’ve paid for my room and meals and really not sure why they are concerned as they are losing nothing!!!!!! Had a great day in Paignton and arrived back too late for evening meal, my bad my loss, some of my group who had turned up for food found their portions tiny, the veg hardly blanched and just not up to any standard at all. The Hotel caters for seniors and our group were between 50 & 72 the entertainment was a man on keyboard and frankly the radio would have been better, it really looked like a scene from cocoon (before they jumped into the pool) more like a care home than hotel. Off we went in search of real entertainment and a great night was had at the Spinning Wheel. Came home from a fab night out to no electricity in the room, apart from ceiling light. Found the night porter who had no clue were the fuse box was and just walked around looking vague. He was walking up and the corridor opening and shutting doors!! Eventually after about 1/2 hr the electricity came on. Home the next morning and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. If you want a break at a care home that treats you like kids then this is the place for you.

The food at the hotel which included breakfast and dinner was very nice however, I would have preferred a longer time between courses. However, I enjoyed the pre-ordering system for dinner which took place at the breakfast that morning. I was pleasantly surprised by how close the hotel was to the sea and the doors seemed to be open at all times so I could get up at 3:00 in the morning to watch the sunrise. however, the vending machine in the entrance Room was broken and the door to the ensuite was a sliding door which made a lot of noise in the evening as well as alarms on doors when they were shut properly which woke us up in the night multiple times.

My daughter bought my husband and I a last minute 2 night break for my birthday this weekend. I looked at the reviews, and was a little dubious to be honest, but it was absolutely lovely! Clean, tidy, a lovely jacuzzi bath. Plenty of room, quiet & a lovely bar! Breakfast was nice- could maybe do with mushrooms & hashbrowns too, but still lovely! We will definitely return. Lovely polite friendly staff. Thank you for making my birthday weekend lovely! Xx

Just come back from a 5 day stay @ The Torbay Court. Room was spacious and comfortable.( room 2 ). Bathroom was huge with a sit down shower and jacuzzi bath. Hotel has had a full refurbishment, and was clean, everyone was very welcoming. All staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Good selection of food, everything was hot and tasty. Desserts were gorgeous especially the homemade cheesecake and fruit meringue. Hotel is set in a quiet cul- de -sac, but a short stroll from the sea front, main shops and train station. We would definitely return.

We visited with our club, by coach. This hotel is situated rather strangely in an area surrounded by houses. It is a short walk from the town and the sea front. It is very quiet (apart from the seagulls which are squawking all night)! The hotel is, on first appearances, fairly modern and well decorated, the bedrooms and bathrooms are a tad faded. Our twin mattresses were a bit lumpy and the decor was in need of refurbishment, it was clean and tidy though. The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities. Meal times were set at 8-8.30 for breakfast and 6 or 6.30 for evening dinner depending on the day. The breakfast was a buffet of fruit juices, fruit, cereals and toast with preserves, followed by/instead of, choice of full English, scrambled egg etc or a kipper for £3.50 extra. The evening dinner was generally very good, choice of soup or 2 other dishes or orange juice for starter, choice of four dishes for main, generally, a meat, fish, veggie, salad. Choice of 3 or 4 sweets. Highlight was a meringue with fresh cream and berries (an absolute delight)!! My partner and brother declared the meal portions "too small". Entertainment was provided every evening, one night was bingo and play your cards right, other evenings music was laid on. We enjoyed our stay and were blessed with good weather. Maneuvering the coach to leave the hotel was a nightmare with parked cars on every corner!

I have done many reviews and all are honest and I don’t tend to nitpick. Overall the hotel is pretty poor. So the positives: staff are very friendly and polite and an asset to the hotel. Location is superb, only 5 mins walk to the beach, pubs and places to eat. Bar is good, well stocked and very reasonable and there is free car parking. The negatives: room is pretty standard but there is some damp on the ceiling and walls. Shower is terrible - poor water pressure and cold. Only option is a static rain shower so no flexible hose. Not good for disabled guests - tip from my wife - if you are not washing your hair everyday then bring a shower cap. Bathroom had a constant smell of strong sewage. Despite keeping the bathroom door closed and bedroom window open, the smell still lingered. Breakfast was, in all honesty, the worse we have ever had. Cheap fruit juices and a selection of cheap varieties of Rice Krispies, cornflakes, bran flakes or weetabix. Full English includes one sausage, bacon, half a tomato, cheap beans and egg. Sausage ok but bacon v cheap and fatty (just about cooked), beans microwaved to lava temperature and the egg cooked in some v strong tasting oil. It was awful. We skipped breakfast the next day and grabbed a coffee and something to eat elsewhere. Finally housekeeping was pretty lacklustre. . Bed made up the next morning - looked as if one of my kids made the bed when they were younger!! Pretty poor. Unfortunately we wouldn’t come again and I can’t recommend.
