The Respite is well-located in the historic district and there is a great coffee shop and brewery within a couple blocks of the property. The rooms were nice - bed was comfortable and I especially enjoyed the balcony and the plush towels though I did not enjoy the shampoo and shower gel dispensers - this felt oddly out of place given the luxe of the house and other amenities. I never saw/met the inn keepers and the house itself, while beautiful, felt more like a museum and the kitchen being basically off-limits added to this vibe. I declined the breakfast because 9 AM is very late though I assume it must work for most other guests. The innkeeper was responsive to a couple of issues I encountered but the overall experience felt impersonal and not really like a B and B. Overall a decent stay though and I would stay again due to the location and reasonable rate.

Great place to stay! It's our second time staying here and will stay again. It's always quiet and comfortable, with large rooms. They have a very cool billards room behind a bookcase and a comfortable sitting room. Shelley was wonderful, making us feel right at home.

Terrific stay. Easy booking/check-in process. Quiet, roomy, very clean. Our room was very spacious. Excellent bed, linens and towels. The "Study" w/pool table is a bonus. We highly recommend The Respite!

The National Quilting Museum was our first stop on this 2,800-mile road trip. I asked the desk clerk at the National Quilting Museum for a hotel recommendation, and he asked if we’d like a Bed and Breakfast. I made the reservation by phone and received a National Quilting Museum discount. The Respite is only a few blocks from the museum. Codes to enter the B&B and our room were sent via email and text. Breakfast is purchased separately from the room. There was no staff on site when we arrived. We stayed in the Songbird, a king suite, and the room was updated, clean, and the bathroom was large. We did not purchase breakfast because we planned to leave before breakfast was served. I highly recommend the Respite.

This is an AirBnB-type place where check-in is contactless and the entire experience is contactless, too. We didn't see another soul during our entire stay. List of house rules didn't make the experience any warmer. The room was nice and large and clean, as were the common areas, but it all felt very corporate. There was a separate walk-in closet, but there were no clothes hangers to be found. There was a Keurig, but no milk for coffee, just flavored CoffeeMate. This sort of inn is probably the wave of the future, and many will find it to be just what they want, but I'm not there yet.
