This is a good hotel in central part of the city. We didn't use any of the facilities due to our short stay at the hotel.

Quiet, clean, good price. Could possibly do with a refurb but everything works well. Bed was comfy but squeaky. Great value for money, great for exploring Oxford and just somewhere to sleep. Lots of shops nearby. Would be an hour walk to the centre of Oxford but we just got a taxi which was £11. There was also a bus.

The hotel is located in a convenient location where we can easily commute around the city centre and the Bicester village. Sadia was really nice and helpful. She greeted us with a warm welcome. Rooms were quite small but they are clean and tidy. Overall, it was a great time staying at the hotel.

Stayed with 3 friends for one night whilst attending a concert. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn't find fault with anything. The hospitality was spot on, the lovely gentleman that greeted us was so pleasant, the 3 bed room was perfectly suited to our needs and the beds so comfortable, we all had a great nights sleep. We sat outside in the sunshine for breakfast and what a treat that was, all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. We will be returning at some stage. Great hotel, great staff and wonderful food.

I booked this hotel for a weekend get away foe me and my partner. It was an early birthday treat, i advised the hotel this upon booking and they were fantastic enough to put a banner up and left a few little goodies for her which was amazing, very nice touch. The hotel staff were friendly, polite and courteous. Would definitely look at booking again in the future if we are down that way again.

I use many different hotels on a monthly basis however this was my first visit at this hotel. I want to congratulate the team at holiday inn Oxford as I had an enjoyable stay and everything was clean and tidy. I was greeted with a warm welcome and although the hotel was busy the staff were very accommodating. The bar staff were very friendly but I would like to especially mention Lauren who served me with a smile and was very efficient considering how busy the bar was. Thank you for an enjoyable experience and I hope to return soon (14/10/22)

We enjoyed the carvery at Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon this weekend. We were a party of 10, with ages ranging from late teens to early 80s. The hotel is lovely, with a warm welcome on arrival from the staff at reception. We sat in the bar for a while as we waited for all of our party to arrive. The bar is welcoming and comfortable and the drinks reasonably priced. At 12:30 we made our way to the restaurant and waited for a while to be seated. This was our first visit to the carvery and it would have been useful for a member of staff to explain the process to us - but we watched what other customers were doing and followed suit. The 3 course lunch is all self service and drinks are obtained from the bar. For starter there was a choice of soup with homemade bread and salad with cold meats. I had the salad and it was very nice, especially the potato salad which was delicious. The carvery was fantastic. With a choice of pork, beef and chicken, potatoes, cauliflower cheese, mixed vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. Unfortunately some of the serving platters were empty when we got there and we had to wait a while for them to be refilled. I imagine this was due to the sitting starting at 12:30 so an immediate rush of people. The beef was absolutely delicious, as were the potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings were truly scrumptious. I understand from one of my guests that the chicken was perfection. The vegetables were undercooked for my taste but the cauliflower cheese was lovely. We had a really great meal. There were a few improvements that could be made to improve the experience but nothing to put me off going back for another family birthday in a few weeks time.

We stayed for two evenings in May to visit Blenheim palace. We had two rooms, both superior, one on the first floor of the pub and one leading out to the front. Both rooms were beautiful; the one outside had very low ceilings and beams (ok for us as we’re not tall), with a big clawfoot bath and a walk in wardrobe. It also had the most stunning fireplace that backs on to the one in the pub. The other room had a huge 6ft bed and a very big walk in shower. Both were incredibly comfortable and we slept well both nights. We ate at the pub both evenings; the first night a young chap was managing the restaurant, he and the team did a phenomenal job. The service and the food was superb. He second evening we shared the steak (we had two between the four of us) and it was amazing. Again the food and service was fabulous. On the Saturday we were the only ones eating breakfast, the service was prompt and the food delicious. However the breakfast on the Sunday was an absolute disaster; the chap who seated us (I didn’t catch his name but he had an overseas accent) took our order and then we waited…. We waited and waited as he seated others, took their orders and their breakfasts came while we waited. The room wasn’t full, there were about 5 other tables seated (and he walked past us several times and looked at the table). When we asked him, he blamed the kitchen then went to find out what had happened. He came back and apologised and said it would be with us shortly (to be clear, two of us were only having toast!) only for us to have to chase again. An hour had gone by and we still had no breakfast (every other table had come and gone by then. After chasing a second time, he brought out one cooked breakfast (with the wrong eggs) and an omelette (the other order was for poached eggs on toast), oh and then the toast! We explained this was wrong so he blamed the kitchen again and then said he’d get them to make poached eggs but we said we’d rather not have rushed poached eggs (and to be honest it had been over an hour, we had to get off). There was an almighty row going on between him and the kitchen (I imagine the order simply hadn’t made it and then he’d guessed). We were gutted, it had been such a lovely stay with two fabulous meals and great service and it ended like that. We were told that a guest had a flat battery and they were trying to help out with that, but to me there’s no excitement for that level of service in a breakfast room where only 5 tables have taken breakfast. When I checked out he apologised it did not make eye contact. I really wanted to be writing a positive review and like I said the majority of the stay was super, to the point we’d discussed returning g. However that wouldn’t happen now, which is a shame.

The water for washing is too small and too slow, basically it is bad.
Even if you change to another room, it will be the same

Outstanding
GGuest UserUnique food, impeccable service! I attended a large dinner in the ballroom. The chandeliers and lighting in the room created a beautiful atmosphere. The servers were kind and attentive. Main course was a unique aubergine dish - something out of the ordinary - and it was wonderfully prepared. I’ve eaten at The Alice for dinner as well as tea, and now I know that banquets are as delicious as the restaurant.
GGuest Uservery nice boutique hotel with a good bar and restaurant below. The room nice, clean, minimalist but good furniture and decent shower. Only one complaint - if you are not a fan of capsule coffee (and I am definitely not) and you just want a cup of tea, it's a pain to have to google the coffee machine to work out how to use it when just a simple kettle would have been fine. Just 4 for the location because of the chaos at the Botley road bridge which is going on till this time next year at least! Lovely breakfast menu with good service.
IIan CThis small hotel in what once must have been a grand private semi-detached house is quietly located in leafy St Margaret’s Road opposite the entrance of St Hugh’s college. The stop for the Oxford city sightseeing bus is near and it is easy to get to the city centre by bus or on foot (15 minutes or so if walking). The nearby area of Jericho is interesting too and worth taking a walk along the canal. Can’t speak for the rest of the hotel of course but our room on the ground floor was large and comfortable with coffee/tea making facilities, biscuits and a mini fridge. There are five car parking spaces and two EV chargers which sadly don’t work (a member of staff said they have never worked). There is car parking in the street too. I don’t know what it is about bathrooms in hotels of this type but often, as in this case, the shower while extremely powerful was difficult to get to the right temperature and the water was very slow to drain away, while spots of black mould on the sealant should be dealt with; but that’s a relatively minor concern as it was otherwise spotlessly clean. The hotel, while very clean, could do with a spruce-up inside and I think that might be happening as there were swatches of carpet samples in reception. Breakfast is certainly adequate, served in the conservatory overlooking a large garden mainly laid to lawn - top marks for good coffee!. We dined at Gees, a very good restaurant about six minutes down the Banbury road towards Oxford (see separate review). Overall a happy stay, kind and pleasant staff very eager to help.
GGuest UserThis hotel is in a great location, close to the train and bus stations. The check-in people were very friendly and let us leave our suitcases when we arrived before check-in time. They gave us a helpful detailed map of the major sights to see. When we returned to check in, they had already put our suitcases in our room upstairs. Our room was quiet and clean and came with a fan. The staff also let us store a sandwich in their refrigerator. Overall, a great stay for a reasonable price. I would definitely stay there again.
GGuest UserThe room is very clean, the service attitude is very good, check-in and check-out are fast, and the service is smiling. The sanitary conditions are very good, and the shower water is very comfortable.
I will stay here again in the future.
WwangmaggieThere is a bus station next to the hotel. It is more convenient to go to oxford center. The room size is okay, with plenty of sunlight, clean, and warm. The view from the window is very good. I saw a little squirrel in the morning, and the children liked it very much. However, after the check-in time is 4 o'clock, the check-out time is 10 o'clock, which is really inconvenient. In addition, the room cleaning will only be provided if the stay is more than 5 consecutive days. We have not cleaned the room for three consecutive days. I think it is not very reasonable and needs to be improved. .
GGuest UserWe stayed just one night to meet family members for dinner in Oxford.
It is very well located for the city cetre. Despite that, it is in a quiet location and we had a good night's rest in a small but comfortable room.
It lacks the range of facilites that you may want for a long stay. For example, it has no lounge, restaurant or lifts, which is the only reason I could not give 5 /5 for facilites. What facitlities is does have are good: in room tea and coffee making, television, radio and WiFi. Staff are friendly and helpful.
We came by car and used the Park and Ride system, which is excellent. Oxford bus services are good. The hotel is also only a short taxi ride from the station if you go by train.
The hotel was ideal for a short stay and we will use it again.
GGuest UserRoom #904. Parking was provided (limited availability, but no problem if you check in early). Nice room, but noisy bunch of young people partying below us that evening and night, but I appreciate that can't be helped while the May VIII's are racing on the river (Bumps).
We had some friends join us for supper in ”Keepers' restaurant and bar and were repeatedly hurried by the waitress to get our order in before 8:40pm ”because 9pm is when the chef goes home”. Well it didn't need a 'chef' truly, but the food was acceptable and reasonably priced at £120 for 4 including drinks. No chance of pud though, unless you had ordered it before the watershed. We had bought our own birthday cake, so we had that instead. I can't think of any other European countries where this would happen...
We asked if we could leave our car in situ for a few hours after we checked out the following morning and we were accommodated with grace, which was very kind. A well-situated establishment, we paid £150 for the night for a double room in the new block.
JJUNGGood environment, location downtown, walking and shopping are hate convenient, front desk staff service is warm and thoughtful, heart-warming, reasonable price, clean and spacious room, is the first choice for the next trip to Oxford.
This hotel self rates as 2 stars - room was small, no bath, small sink, desk, only stool no chair. Nothing else. Shared bath. If you are on tight budget & this is what you want, then it’s ok. Conveniently located by train station. Negatives: internet was unacceptably slow. Carpets in common areas dirty and need a deep clean. A paint job would make common areas more presentable. Stairs extremely narrow and steep. Continental breakfast included; staff friendly, helpful except for one grumpy individual.
