I recently found myself in the sad situation of having to organise a wake. I chose Mortimer arms due to their prompt professional response to my initial enquiry. Also, due to the close location to Test Valley Crematorium. I liased mostly with Abbie . A truly exceptional young woman. She demonstrated empathy and understanding throughout the process. Was respectful and always mindful of the type of event Abbie really looked after family and friends throughout the afternoon. She has a lovely warm friendly energy, just what was needed. The Buffet and cakes we ordered were served on time and were delicious. The Kitchen and bar staff were also great. Warm , friendly and welcoming. The venue was lovely. Very fresh and decorated beautifully. When I first met Abbie, she suggested using an area at the end of the bar for the wake , which opened out into a delightful sunny courtyard. This worked exceptionally well providing plenty of space for family and friends to enjoy some fresh air and sunny weather. I can’t recommend Mortimer Arms at Romsey highly enough. I will definitely be visiting again in the future.

We only stayed one night but the room was very clean, bed was extremely comfortable, breakfast was amazing fresh & nice & hot & good choice. The owner was a lovely man very helpful, he is still refurbing but this did not impact our stay in any way, when we return next year we hope to see all his lovely improvements😊

Had a 3 night midweek stay in the Mortimer Arms for a family trip to Paultons Park (2 adults, 2 very small children). Location is exceptional for visits to Paultons. The hotel is only 15/20mins from Southampton airport by taxi. Then it's a short 15 minute walk along a clearly marked pathway into the park. On our arrival at the hotel we were able to leave our bags and head straight for the park on the same day because of the short transfer. The room was spacious, very clean, had a smart TV connected to the Internet (Netflix/Disney/Prime with your own login details) and the furnishings were all clearly new/newish. The building itself is in need of some TLC, but its a Victorian Building so you have to allow for some latitude and on speaking to the new management over the course of the visit, it was clear this work is already underway. The contractors were seen about the hotel during day time hours. What set the hotel apart was the staff, who were exceptional. Nothing was a hassle, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our youngest daughters allergy. Michael (Managing Director) and I believe Abbie couldn't have been more accommodating for our stay, as were the rest of the staff but I unfortunately didn't catch all their names. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future

Excellent service!!! All the staff were friendly and very helpful, extremely welcoming. Rooms were fairly basic but clean and very comfy beds and what I’d expected for the price really. In all, was excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend. Stayed 2 nights for a locally held family Wedding and would definitely return to the Mortimer Arms if I’m ever in the area again

Never got to step through the door I booked 2 rooms the beginning of march Got full confirmation of my booking and I thought great we were staying 1 night before we went off on a cruise but to my dismay the Mortimer arms cancelled my booking on 10 of may saying I had requested the cancellation but I did not When I complained they said it was an error on there part that the room were not allocated at the time of booking but they managed to take payment so how could they not notice the rooms were not allocated Extremely poor excuse Will not entertain this company again

A lovely stay. Michael and team are excellent hosts and made every effort to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable visit. The room is very comfortable and we both slept very well. A couple of minor gripes, the shaving mirror light wasn’t working and I think a tooth mug in the bathroom would be good. Dinner was very good, excellent home cooked pub food. Service was lovely, the staff are young but they are very attentive, engaging and efficient. A slight delay on mains was resolved quickly and kindly. Whilst it wasn’t the main part of my meal I have to say that the vegetables with my homemade pie were really well cooked and showed great attention to details. Breakfast was equally as good, lovely ingredients, super service all served in a really nice dining room bar . Highly recommended.

We stayed here for one night. The room was ok and has a kettle etc for tea/coffee. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were firm which I like. The bathroom has a shower only which we prefer but some people may not like. The corridoor to the bed rooms could do with painting and bit of TLC. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal and the food is good quality. I found the drink prices a bit expensive £18 for a pint of lager and a large wine. The breakfast was good although a few pastries would have been nice. Food is cooked to order and the only other food is cereal or fruit. This pub/hotel is right next to peppa pig world so if you have kids it would be a good stop over.

When arrived and give room 14, nice size room and clean. Went to bed not to late after nice meal in restaurant (little expensive) Then the troubles start, room above staff quarters- none stop walking around, shower, toilet being flushed and these noises from above. Finally fell asleep only to be woken up at 5:30am with same. Not a good sleep experience!!!
Mentioned it to Breakfast staff only to be told, yes staff room above room 14 and you are not the first to complain. NOTHING else done about it -
Was going to stay another night but decided not too!!
