Comfort Inn

We recently visited Tobermory and Lion’s Head for a wonderful family reunion and experience. Unfortunately, our trip ended on a disappointing note due to our stay at this property on our second night. We had originally booked Waterview on the Bay, but since it was sold out and we couldn’t extend, I decided to redeem 20,000 Choice Privileges points and booked 1 more reservation for a stay at this Comfort brand hotel, trusting the standards associated with the brand. I booked two rooms to accommodate our family. Check-in was handled by "Wendy the mean guest service" at the front desk. While the check-in itself went smoothly, what followed was unacceptable. About 30 minutes after arriving, I needed extra pillows and blankets for the kids. I went to the laundry area and kindly asked a staff member there for assistance. She was friendly and helpful, telling me that she would have the items ready in 5 minutes. I returned to the room briefly to get a tip for her, then picked up the pillows and blankets as she promised. As I was walking back to the room, "Wendy the mean guest service", the same guest service agent who checked us in approached me aggressively in the hallway. She told me I shouldn’t be "treating the housekeepers that way" and began raising her voice, stating that they only had two housekeepers cleaning 54 rooms and that she had been having a long day. I was completely shocked and confused, as I had been nothing but polite in my request. I hadn't made any complaints about the room, nor had I spoken negatively to or about any staff. She continued to confront me, loudly insisting I shouldn’t be speaking to "that man" about housekeeping. I later found out that she had mistaken me for another guest in room 119, who had lodged a complaint about dirty roomand linens. I was staying in room 117. I went back to the laundry area to clarify the situation with the laundry girl, who kindly reassured me she would explain the misunderstanding to "Wendy the mean guest service". Eventually, the actual guest who had complained appeared and confirmed he was the one with the issue not me. This entire situation was upsetting and unprofessional. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade, I’ve never encountered such inappropriate behavior from a guest service representative. It is unacceptable for a staff member to confront a guest in this manner, especially over something unrelated to them, and to use staffing shortages or personal frustrations as an excuse. I strongly urge management to address this behavior. If you want your business to succeed and uphold the standards of the Choice Hotels brand, I suggest you reconsider the type of staff you employ starting of not getting like "Wendy the mean guest service".

Awesome downtown filled with fun stores that have character! Lots of great reasonably priced restaurants! Nice waterfront!! Old steamship restaurant had awesome food! Cute little breakfast place across from comfort inn was perfectly cooked food, 1990 prices! Fun visit
