The peaceful nature, green grass surrounded by the mountains was amazing. The cleanliness of the rooms made that wanted to stay in room for my holiday.This a beautiful holiday resort.

Pros: accomodation and breakfast 11/10. One of the best I've ever experienced in South Africa. Great security and they cater for fully halaal. The beds were big and comfortable. Cons: our air didn't work in the heat of Summer (35deg). Not enough swimming pools and they are surprisingly small. Bar fridge in the rooms were small and only limited dstv channels. Only heated pool is at the spa and available when doing a treatment.

Our second time at Houw Hoek and certainly not our last, from the friendly staff to the beautiful scenery, the lovely food, pools, entertainment and of coz the spa! A gem indeed, we enjoyed every second. A must visit on your bucket list should you be looking for a nice place to stay.

Lost its charm
The hotel suffers an identity crisis. It positions itself as holiday resort but is actually mode a conference/events centre. Very noisy and not so classy neighbours disturbed our afternoon rest as well as late night sleep. I pity anyone who thought they could relax there in the evening because there were two noisy disco booming functions till midnight. The old world charm is no longer for this destination.

What an absolute joy it was staying at Houw Hoek Hotel. From the welcoming and lovely staff, to the fantastic facilities and food. Also, the view is breathtaking. I could probably write an entire review about the view alone. We were made to feel at home and everything was effortless. We had dinner there as well and the food was amazing. There was a slight wait, but that is to be expected with a dining room of that size PLUS a wedding that was happening in the other area. Good things require patience, and the food was definitely good! Upon leaving (a Sunday) I noticed my vehicle had a severe puncture and the hotel allowed me to leave my car there overnight so that I could go get it sorted on the Monday. The security guard even helped me with the change! It was an honour to stay at such a marvellous place. Thank you!

Our family all came together at the Houw Hoek Hotel to celebrate our Mother/Grand Mother's 82nd Birthday. The facilities are clean and well kept. Lots to do to keep every one busy (4years old to 84years old). Swimmingpools were a hit, as was the Paddle Courts. Breakfast buffet was lovely with lots of delicious options. 2 issues that management can possibly look into: - Dinner Services is VERY slow. Food was good, but waiting for more than an hour for food, when you have little ones at the table is not acceptable. I understand that they were busy... but still. - Towels are taken away every day to wash/dry. This means that you come back from Paddle or Pool to take a shower and there are no towels in your room. This can be avoided through not replacing towels everyday (which most hotels do these days) or having enough towels to replace when the rooms are being cleaned. Overall a good weekend break away. We will definitely visit again.

Neglected and unsupervised is about the summary of it…. Room, dirty under the beds, behind loose cupboards, and overall. Shower neck and head about to falloff… Welcome and activities booklet stuck together with some spilt beverage… No T-spoons and tissues…. Empty box left behind… Restaurant…. Ordered lunch, after 40 minutes with nothing I went to ask to find the waitress had gone off shift… Start again… Dinner, my fish was overcooked and dried out… Vegetables boiled to nothing. Breakfast… No teaspoons, ask and handed two. One drops on the floor and waitress returns it to the use bowl. When asked why it wasn’t sent to be cleaned after being on the floor she smiled and walked away… Coffee so strong it’s almost undrinkable but fortunately there was hot water to dilute it. Lily ponds full of rubbish, plastic and overgrown… Very sad to see the state of neglect and obvious total lack of management, leadership, oversight and checking of quality… Best service received from the friendly bar man, rest just pathetic… Owners - please fix this! You are charging for an overseas client base looking at your prices and this was very poor overall! Please, make it nice! This is a very sad reflection of a beautiful venue..
