I used the cottage for a personal retreat. It was ideal. Small and comfortable with paraffin lamps at night and frogs in the pond. A wonderful quiet space to sit and ponder the dam. Lovely walks in the orchards and space to unwind. A place to return to for solitude.

Quiet peacefull breakaway on a farm overlooking a dam when you lay in your bed with friendly staff and pet friendly a big plus.

Thoroughly enjoyed 4 nights here. Dogs were in heaven running around the green grass and swimming in the dam. Great to go running through the orchards, braaing and watching magnificent sunsets. Apples, pears and blackberries in abundance. Need to understand this is a working farm and aerial & ground crop spraying can take place.

Only an hour from home(Cape Town) “The Shack” is hiding between fruit trees, with a patio overlooking a dam which we struggled to get our out of - he LOVED it ! By the second day we realized we discovered the PERFECT breakaway, and promptly booked another 3 days in December. Apart from the magnificence of the property, the well run farm, and the beautiful shack, the owners/managers were soooo professional and efficient- requests were sorted in a heartbeat and with a smile. Im known to be fussy and have no issues with criticizing businesses if need be, but there isn’t a single fault to be found on Galileo Farm !

WARNING, don’t be fooled by what you see on a booking platform or their website. We were told we could only check in at 3, I had to wait more than 40 minutes for the host to arrive, no office and no staff to assist. A real unfriendly rude women arrives (the host) We got a real Lemon and that was the name of the room, Lime is the room next door. I needed to ask for extra pillows as they only offered one, no heater, no aircon, no TV, only Rooibos Tea, milk was Long life, who drinks Long life. Instant coffee with a coffee plunger, big thick wine glasses. To crown it all the room had a weird smell, what does it cost to put in an atomizer to give the place a memorable smell. Stark walls with no art, no headboards, two single beds pushed together. Our outside entrance / patio was filthy, looked like it hadn’t been swept in weeks. One miserable little piece of a fire lighter with wet wood so we couldn’t even get the fire lit. An absolute over priced disappoint, we would have checked out immediately but accommodation in the Elgin Valley is hard to find as it is so beautiful, Galileo obviously feeds off the success and overflow of the other amazing places in the area.
