An excellent choice. We had flight delays and missed the first of two nights. They offered us the next two nights, even though they had no obligation to do so. The rooms are fairly small but had all we needed. We had two very good breakfasts and one dinner which was excellent. Good WiFi and very helpful staff.

A lovely little hotel. In a good position for a stopover on way to Cornwall. The food, both dinner and breakfast was excellent and there was a lovely terrace to sit and have a drink overlooking the garden. Also very friendly and helpful owner and staff

We had a 2 night stay, the room was perfect and had a bath as well as a shower. Comfiest bed I have ever slept in and the breakfast was superb. Short walk into Ottery St Mary which we did twice and even closer to the River Otter and the Tumbling Weir. Plenty of off street parking and very friendly Owners and staff

Great Sunday lunch, really enjoyed our meal, service and charm. Just wonderful. Great position easy to park. Will be returning for sure. Thought it reasonably priced and the choices on the menu were nice. Paul who served us was very friendly and welcoming.

Could not believe this was only 2 stars, the food alone deserves 4 stars. Very cosy and friendly, lovely owners and the 2 waitresses were excellent. We could not find any fault with the food, our evening meal was sooooo yummy, and the breakfast also delicious. A treat to have table service for both meals and lovely white linen. The room was spacious and had every comfort, and everywhere was spotless, all credit to the housekeeper. A nice bonus was the non-slip bathmat provided in the bathroom. All in all, a very pleasant one night stay, would be lovely to come in the better weather and enjoy the garden and outside seating.

We had a three-night stay in May, drawn to the area because an ancestor of my husband's wrote an angling book set along the Otter, and drawn to the hotel because of its quaint name. We liked pretty much everything about the hotel, from the moment we found it in its tucked-away and very quiet location. We had a friendly welcome, our room was just what we wanted (big bed, very clean, comfortable, quiet) and we went on to enjoy our days of exploring this lovely region with its interesting towns. We ate in the hotel dining room for two out of our three nights, and each time were served by young and efficient staff who were enthusiastic and helpful. Breakfasts were pre-ordered, the service was once again highly efficient, and the food was great.

Cannot fault anything - the hotel was full of character with beautiful beams, books and homely feel in the reception area whilst our room was bright, clean and very comfortable. It is in a pretty and quiet location but not far from M5 and very easy to find following hotels directions. Pre ordered breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked so piping hot.

I'm so glad I found this place! I had a brilliant week here, my en suite room was lovely, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed and the quality of the breakfast was incredible!! I will definitely be back!

My second stay here. Lots of parking, slightly tucked away and difficult to find on first visit. Easily walkable to the centre of town through a park. Decor is quite dated and the downstairs feels a bit dark, but the room was more recently decorated and updated. The room was comfy, clean and well presented with an excellent bathroom (shower room) and tea making facilities. If you expect a 40” TV in your hotel room, you are out of luck; I didn’t measure it, but I’d guess 16-18”. Anything bigger would have overwhelmed the room anyway. Breakfast was particularly good. You note down what you’d like the night before, so they get some warning, and your table (numbered for your room) is ready prepared for you. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and happy to offer advice about the local area.
