We had a really lovely stay at the Oslo Guldsmeden. The hotel is situated in a quite area just a few minutes walk from the station and Aker Brygge We booked directly with the hotel and selected a double double room which can be two doubles next to each other or opposite. I had emailed ahead and asked for interconnecting rooms and was delighted to find the hotel had accommodated our request. We were greeted warmly on arrival. Our room was not yet made up as we arrived a little early but we were told we were welcome to use the lounge area and help ourselves to the free coffee. This was very welcome after our early morning flight. Our room was lovely, with those special Scandanavian hygge touches that instantly make you feel at home. It was great to see that sustainability was important to the hotel. We were given one towel each (any more and you can become quite complacent about the planet and use them all) and there were lots of lovely eco-friendly toiletries and little extras. I loved them so much that I'm going to buy some now I'm back in the UK. We all slept very well in the beds and the room was always at the perfect temperature. There are heaters in the room that you can control if you feel a little chilly, however. Some previous reviews have mentioned the showers can be problematic. No problems here! You just need to make sure the shower curtain is closed and that you don't throw your arms around like an octopus while you shower. Do that and the water will stay where it's supposed to be. :) The sauna in the hotel is well worth a trip too. You will have the entire spa to yourself - we used the spa bath, the steam room, and the sauna. After a long day of sightseeing, it was heavenly to have an hour to ourselves to relax and then finish the whole experience with some of the gorgeous orange body oil that is supplied. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but it did look amazing with lots of organic produce on offer. All in all, the hotel was an amazing addition to our carefully planned trip and we would definitely come back when we are next in Oslo.
