Hotel Sunplaza

The hotel is superb, price is economy. Location is just 1 minute walk, next to the Shin-Imamiya Train Station. If you are from the airport, you could take the JR Haruka Kansai Airport Express, and get down here at this Shin-Imamiya Train Station. However, you must note that getting down from this station, you need to use the staircase to reach to the ground area. No Lift, no escalator. The hotel is also near to Dobutsuen-mae Metro station, about 5-10 minute walking distance. Nearby attractions such as Shinsaibashisuji, Tsutenkaku, Shinsekai, all these are 1-2, or 2-3 metro / JR train rides. When I booked this hotel, I did not know about this as I chose this hotel due to price only. So it is a great surprise and bonus for me after knowing all this. Another surprise comes few days later. When I wanted to travel to Nara and Kyoto, again, I was surprise to know that I could actually take the train directly from Shin-Imamiya without going to the Osaka Main Station. The reception staff taught me not to go to the main station, but to take the train from Shin-Imamiya station (for Nara) and Dobutsuen-mae Station (for Kyoto). So, again, a plus point for this hotel location. Don't forget, you just need to walk 1 minute to reach the JR station from the hotel. By the way, Dobutsuen-mae station is with escalator, so no problem to travel to Kyoto with luggage using this station. Room size could be quite small, so it is best to request for tatami room instead of the normal room with bed. Staff is accommodating. I booked for a normal bedroom, but requested to change to Tatami room after 2 night stays which they allowed so. So, I get more space after 3rd day of my stay. No attached bathroom and toilet. Avoid this hotel if you are not use to this. No breakfast provided, but they provide complementary coffee tea facilities. You can buy food and drink from the nearby 7-11 or other convenient stores. I will surely come back again if I were to travel to Osaka again.

I highly recommend staying at this hotel. For its price, it offers great value for money. The location is excellent—right across JR and Nankai stations, just a short walk from Osaka Metro (Dobutsuen-mae), and surrounded by convenience stores, Don Quijote, supermarkets, and close to Namba and Tennoji. While I’ve experienced another hotel in the area with slightly better amenities, this one is still an overall fantastic choice. The service was exceptional. I’ll definitely visit and stay here again!
