It's not secret Statia may not be for everyone, but as much as I enjoyed Statia Lodge and will cherish the memories from this place for the rest of my life I think it's worth mentioning that this place isn't probably for everyone either - it's unique, it's remote, it's raw! The individual lodges are great, the sound of wind hitting them is something you love to fall asleep to or chill to during the day... but that also means a lot of creatures have easy access to it freely - whether spiders, insects, lizards, huge butterflies - we had seen it all, and I am still surprised my wife, thank you dear hahah, "survived" these 3 amazing nights with me here - what I am trying to say that if you are "afraid of nature" and need solid 4 concrete walls and A/C on the tropical island... this may not be the place for you... but don't cross it off until you read through this full review as you may be missing out on something truly rare and unique Location: Tony will gladly pick you up from the airport, don't worry about late or early arrivals, the check in and check out is basically a 12h window to accommodate for all guests arriving via ferries and air plaines and their schedules, he will give you a ride (or provide a car for you at the airport, we paid $60 per day cash only for the car for an SUV), and take you to the hotel - you are tucked away at the almost very south of Statia - it's a one way in and one way out as someone told me the first night at the restaurant - it's about a 15 minute drive but there is a lot of one ways that you will pass through Oranjestad, nothing bad or scary or difficult, just take your time, especially if you arrive at night like we did. The hotel is facing south/southeast on a high elevation providing spectacular views of sunsets and nearby islands of St Kitts and portion of Nevis. There are no restaurant walking distance or grocery stores - you could technically walk back to "town" but it would be very impractical - most guests either have a car or a bicycle - from here another 5 minutes easy drive is the Fort de Windt - you are remotely located for peace and tranquility (except for the roosters in the morning hahah) Grounds: I want to say there are about 8 or 9 lodges + the main building where breakfast is served, where also extra loungers and swimming pool are situated. You park the car outside of the gate... and unfortunately with the luggage you have to take it down/up in your hands as it's not possible to roll it on the dirt/grass/ground - a small hassle to account for at the check in and check out - most people who stayed here didn't look like they travelled heavily (we did since it was part 2 of our 2 week trip in the region...) as many visit Statia for work or diving rather than typical tourism we have arrived to do on the land... back to the grounds, lots of green, some palm trees, and the beautiful Quill in the background - look at the pictures, it's a peace of paradise. The pool is refreshing and has some shade duri
