Comfort Inn & Suites Orange - Montpelier

I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and appointment of their rooms. We reserved King Suites and they were very roomy. The front desk staff was very polite and professional. The continental breakfast the following morning was very good and well stocked. If we are ever in Orange again, we would stay there for sure.

This was a first stay for us at a Comfort Inn & Suites, a Choice Hotel, and I am sure we will stay with them again. There have been many improvements with the current location and ongoing renovations and our experience was entirely positive. We travel often and appreciate value and quality. The highlights of our stay included: overall cleanliness, bright and refreshing decor, and a delicious hot breakfast. We believe the most important factor in the hospitality industry is the employees who interact with the guests: Michael and Bridget were professional, knowledgeable, personable and delightful. They made such a positive addition to our stay.

We were pleased with our quick stay at this out-of-the way hotel. It is close enough to Charlottesville to get back in town before the activities started for the day, but far enough away to be reasonably priced on a busy university weekend. The room we stayed in smelled fresh was clean and the lobby had obviously been upgraded recently (even though it was functional to say the least). The hotel is pet-friendly, but we were not impacted by either noise, nor smell.

Hands down the worst place I have ever stayed. The only elevator was broken and my companion struggles with stairs. No possibility of refund and we were not notified in advance. Room was outdated and dirty. Morning breakfast: the lobby was flooded with broken pipes and the sewer was backed up outside. We could not get out of there fast enough

DONT BOTHER STAYING HERE....RUN, DONT WALK! Stay somewhere else. Our first & last trip here. Front desk lady does not want to be at work, & doesn't hide it, so dont bother asking her anything. There's not enough rm on here to list EVERYTHING that's wrong.

Worst hotel I've stayed at in many years. Bathroom was dirty. I had to clean the toilet right away. Had to flush toilet 8 times to get it to flush due to very low water pressure. No trash can or toilet paper dispenser in bathroom. Rubber and vinyl flooring and shower rug cracked and discolored from age. Public areas like hallways and elevators were worn and beat up looking. Price was as high as nice hotels and bed and breakfasts in the same area, but quality was dramatically lower. I ended up here as a last minute unplanned choice. Would never stay here again. Breakfast was not bad, with hot choices that tasted good. Room size was very large, and hallways were oddly very wide. Room furnishings were typical for mid range chain hotels. Location is convenient to Main St Orange, but not a walkable area. This hotel should be priced as a one star.

First, we paid $177.65 for a one-night stay - pretty high for a lower quality hotel. The hotel is going through renovations. I would say that, at a minimum, avoid this hotel until reservations are complete. The lobby is being used as a material staging area for the new furniture and material to be supplied. The parking area is filled with old furniture. There is trash everywhere, even in the sole elevator. Either the construction crews are not cleaning up or the hotel staff is not. The eating area is also being used as a material staging area. Speaking of eating, the 'breakfast" was terrible. The only fruit was a single apple in a bowl that was present there when we checked in the evening before. The eggs were egg-like, did not appear to be actual eggs. The sausage patties were thin and probably could have been cooked longer - probably just microwaved. Three types of cereal were available and didn't appear fresh - a subjective assessment since I didn't actually try any. Orange juice was fine. Others in my party opted to go to McDonald's for breakfast over this free breakfast. Nobody appeared to be wiping the tables off after use. Kitchen/prep space looked filthy (door was left open) and disorganized. Front desk staff lacked any personality and were not helpful. The rooms appeared clean, however, the tub was old/dirty, despite the tiling having been recently installed (looked like part of renovation was done). The carpet threshold was just taped down. In another room, it was not even taped down and was a trip hazard. The biggest issue was that I never needed my key card. We could not latch the door when exiting, from the hallway. When we returned, we simply had to just push on the door for it to open. When brought to the attention of the front desk the response was "Yes, we are aware. You have to sort of lift the door when closing. That is a problem during the renovation. They will be fixing it." Actually, I don't think that lifting the door would have helped. Once we realized it was not latching (wasn't visually apparent), we tried all sorts of things to get it to latch with no avail. And, as others noted, you can hear everyone walking around above you...very poor sound-proofing. Lastly, not 100% smoke-free. Smoke smell was evident in the evening and at night.

I couldn't find a place to write my review on choice app so here goes. If it wasn't for Shawnae who I spoke with after our stay I would not recommend this hotel. Her customer service was excellent and she did exactly what she said she would in making up as best she could for the inconveniences. The down falls of construction, room ac buttons not working, dust on utensils in dinning room, elevator dirty,room want as clean as I hoped and staff tension was visible. Thank you Shawnae for assisting us after our visit.

Had three different rooms during our 6-night stay: First was dirty, and no towel rack. Second would not heat. Reported this to front desk. They said it was fixed; it was not; heater housing had been removed, but still no heat. Phone did not work. Third room had heat, but no sheer drape on window. We were told there would be no housekeeping on Thanksgiving day. That lasted FOUR days--no housekeeping till the final day of our stay. And then they had the gall to charge us almost double for two weekend nights when the hotel was still very low occupancy. "Satisfaction Guaranteed" is a joke! Naranji LLC (owners) needs to care about customers and not just making money.
