Uukwaluudhi Safari Lodge

Uukwa was a big grand surprise for us 4 elderly people, just wanting a overnight to make travel distances shorter What a friendly reception with views over the plains of the Uukwahluudhi consevacy. Wonderful lodgings in nature, with night sound of the wildlife. We saw Oryx, Eland, Hartebees visiting the waterhole. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Ryna and Derick, managers, made sure we needed nothing. The following morning was my husbands birthday and he received good wishes through song from the friendly efficient staff.

To be honest, we had chosen this lodge pretty much only to cut an otherwise too long drive into two. We came with no expectations and were overwhelmed by the lovely experience. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Maria and another very lovely young girl, whose name I unfortunately forgot. The chalets are furnished nicely and are spaced out to allow some privacy. The main building is surprisingly modern and has a nice terrace with swimming pool and waterhole view. We arrived at lunchtime and as we were the only guests, we immediately took over the pool, where we had a fantastic afternoon just chilling. In the afternoon, the two girls offered us coffee and snacks, also all very lovingly done! After freshening up for dinner, we came back to a big surprise. Our table was decorated beautifully and we received a bottle of bubbly and handwritten congratulations on our honeymoon. The meal served was a three course dinner of a very high standard and was absolutely delicious, the service impeccable. We did see the manager and his wife, but unfortunately they did not come to say hello, which is a great shame, as I would have liked to have told them how happy we were with the wonderful service we received! After dark, we were lucky to view several Oryx by the waterhole. Breakfast the next morning was also very good and then it was time to be on the road again. A very big thank you to the team for a wonderful, if short, stay.
