Room T-2 on the highest point is in a very bad state , not cleaned , toilet in broken condition , no hot water in this room & a few other rooms . bothersome as it was very cold. food is good , not great , breakfast spread is limited. overall , not worth the tariff charged, Sridhar

“Charming heritage stay with breathtaking views, warm hosts, and nature at its best!” Red Hills, Ooty is a beautiful 150-year-old British-era estate that offers stunning views, serene treks, and unmatched hospitality. Jo was fantastic—not just in making our stay comfortable, but also as a wonderful guide on treks that led us to breathtaking views, including a rare and memorable sighting of the Nilgiri thar. The hosts, Vijay and his wife, were incredibly warm and welcoming. The food was fresh and flavorful, with organic vegetables from their garden and delicious BBQs. The friendly pets added a lovely homely touch. A bit more variety in non-veg and breakfast options would make it perfect. An unforgettable getaway—highly recommended!

Red Hills is a truly special place. We make it a point to visit it every time we are in the Nilgiris. The beauty and the solitude of the hills adorned with lush tea plants and rhododendrons provide a perfect respite from the noise and the busyness of Ooty and the rest of the Nilgiris. The mesmerizing view of the lake alone is worth the trip. The hosts Vijay and Bhanu treat each guest as family. Their unpretentious and humble hospitality and love for nature and simple yet elegant living is what makes Red Hills so charming and unique. They keep the 1875 British bungalow and the guest rooms well preserved and ultimately cozy in any season. If you love nature, trekking, wildlife, clean and authentic food, tea and a good conversation, you’ve come to the right place. The staff are very respectful and approachable. If you love animals, you’ll enjoy the company of several friendly cats and dogs. The food is absolutely delicious! From farm grown vegetables, locally sourced meats to homemade bread and deserts made from millets, fruits and amaranth - every mealtime is a pleasant surprise. You can also buy freshly made tea, preserves, honey and more to take home.

An old worldly property with aesthetic colonial style cottages. The dining and reading area is blissfully calm and soothing. Nicely landscaped gardens. Surrounded by beautiful tea-gardens with a view of Emerald lake. We had all meals included package and this was a boon. They source everything from their own estate, organic yield. I just so loved the food here; simple, but so delicious and healthy. The vegetables, so fresh… Went for tracking and an experience at tea garden tour. Nicely planned and managed. Superb property.

Only good thing about the property is the location. When booking, host will be very nice and say all rooms are same only with differing views. Most rooms are in dilapitated state and not suitable for human occupancy. Only 2/3 rooms have been renovated recently and rest are in shambles. Hygiene is a huge concern and they dont clean the rooms properly. Rooms are filled with dead frogs and insects, no cleaning ever done. The rooms are filled with frogs and reptiles. When you complain, host is passing it off as "eco friendly" nature. He tries to justify every single incompetency by labelling it as "eco friendly" Room is not accessible, walkway is unsafe,no steps, no lights- "Eco friendly". Room is filled with frogs and reptiles - "Eco friendly" No heater in the room - "Eco friendly" No hot water -- "Eco friendly" There is a dead frog in the room - "Eco friendly". It was so horrible that I had to cut down my vacation plans. Instead of 3 days, I checked out next day morning only. Host is nonchalant abt all issues and like "take it or leave it". Rooms are not even worth 2k. They are charging 12-15k for these terrible rooms. When you start asking questions, owners will go in hiding

Red Hill Nature Resort is a true emerald in the necklace of Nilgiris. It has one of the most mesmerizing views of the Emerald Lake and surrounding hills. Set amidst a tea estate at the foothills of a mountain, RHNR is a 'homestay' made of a cluster of tea estate bungalows from the British era. We visited RHNR in January and enjoyed clear blue skies both during the day and during night. Pro's: * mesmerizing views * heritage bungalows * clean and spacious rooms and bathrooms * organic and very tasty food * friendly staff * no TV!, but WiFi is available. Con's: * the room heater could be better Do's: * Don't miss the trekking on the hill behind. it is really worthwhile and the views up there are even more scintillating. Wear trekking shoes. * Ask for a basket of fresh organic vegetables while leaving. Also, strawberry jam is very good. Room tips: * best views: N1/N2; next G1/G2 * privacy: T1/T2 Host Vijaykumar is a well-read and noble ***. Talk to him for stories on Nilgiris. He is born and brought up in this very same resort. His wife, Banu, manages the kitchen and the recipes very nicely.

If you are looking for a place in the hills, tucked away from the crowds of Ooty, then Redhills should be your place to go to. Surrounded by tea garden and with forest nearby, redhill offers a peaceful stay, hikes up to the hills, nature walks, and much more. Vijay & Banu are excellent host, and we were treated to great food and stay at Redhills. The pets Ginger, Don, Mikka, Luna, and Alfie are so lovable and friendly; my son had a great time playing with them... I would definitely love to go back there again :)

The place is definitely gorgeous with exceptional views of the Emerald lake, brilliant walking paths, exceptional food and a million flowers. Not luxury but definitely homely and warm. A "chicken soup for the soul" type of place. A couple of things that make this a trip I would definitely recommend: 1. Vijay is an exceptional host. He tries to accommodate all requests. Makes great conversation. 2. Banoo is the kitchen boss. She and her entourage rustle up some amazing fare. The salads are fresh and the mutton to die for. 3. The dogs. Therapeutic. Unbelievably loving and gentle. My wife knew all of them by name. 4. The staff is exceptional.Always trying to please.Really sweet people. Glad we did not stay in a conventional hotel. Would go back to the Red Hill resort at the drop of a hat.
