Holiday Inn Ontario Airport
4.2/5127 Reviews
Overall, this property looks lovely on the outside, but is in desperate need to be updated inside. Arrival: The hotel website states that the hotel does not offer a shuttle, So after paying $15 for the short ride from Ontario Airport, we pull into the porte-cochere where the Holiday Inn shuttle van is parked. So there is a shuttle available, but it only runs very limited hours in the morning. You are on your own if your flight leaves after noon. Lobby: From my observation, the front desk staff is often in the nearby office, as there is no one behind the desk. The hotel has a small sundry area where you can purchase overpriced sodas and water ($3.50), snacks, candy. However you cannot charge the items to your room and must use a credit card on a self-checkout kiosk. We had arrived early in the day, knowing that our rooms would be several hours away from being ready. While waiting in the lobby for a room to become available, I was hoping to complete some work on my laptop. But the property would not allow me WiFi access until I could check in. Considering that I'm have IHG Premium Elite status, this seems like the least they could offer. Restaurant: Again -only Credit Cards accepted. You cannot do a room charge in the hotel's only restaurant. Limited breakfast menu - we ate upon our early arrival. When our rooms were ready and we check in, we were informed that the restaurant would not be open for dinner on Sunday and Monday - the two nights of our stay. Yet when you enter the elevators, they are adorned with advertisement for their restaurant/food offerings. Hallways: Very worn, carpets looked dirty and on our floor, the 4th, you could see what appears to be construction markings through the paint/wallpaper. It looked like faint black marker with room numbers or other symbols - is the paint so thin it didn't cover these up??? Room: The room was generally fine, although the furnishings did appear to be dated. The worst thing though was the air conditioner,. This was the loudest air conditioner I've ever heard -- sounded like the compressor of a large commercial freezer. The television offers several channels, but there are no instructions on how to access them and the remote doesn't have a numerical keypad, so you must use an up/down key to find the channel you want. Towels: As mentioned by others, the towels reminded me of the awful ones they used to give us to use after gym class in high school 30+ years ago.
