Thanks for the friendly service. We really appreciated being able to stay in the wheelchair accessible unit. My father uses a walker and enjoyed the ease of using the ramp to access the unit and of using the shower and bathroom. We would be happy to come again.

The genuine and caring hospitality made my stay one which I can't even put words to. Rachel and Mike are some of the loveliest people you would ever hope to meet!! The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. I was on my bicycle but couldn't continue my trip due to an injury, so stayed a few extra nights. They made sure I had food and suggested ways for me to get my bike picked up. I honestly can't imagine any place I've stayed in NZ that went so far beyond my expectations but made it feel that this is just in their nature. Can't thank them enough. You'd be silly not to stay here if you're in the area!!!

Think this is the first time I have given a motel a 5 star review on one aspect the service. It is not that the rooms weren't great big and roomy catered for large groups though showing their age. A group of family had come from all over to attend a funeral and a number had booked here. We arrived a day earlier then everyone else as we were organising the funeral after function etc. We had arganised a formal get together else where but planned for an informal that evening at the Motel. I was dealing with the owner whose name I can't remember and she was great to deal with very helpful, if I listed everything she did to help would be a long list indeed but for example she gave us a lot of extra coffee and tea sachets as she knew we were having extra people come. Nothing was to much trouble. Really enjoyed our stay have stayed here before and would not hesitate to stay again.

Large rooms in a very traditional Kiwi Motel setting Very clean with every basic requirement Not place for luxury but comfortable beds and good quality linen private hot pools and very helpful hosts. Great location for Taupo mountains and local thermal area.

Obviously the lodge is "in its own right" but that's also what gives it its charm... Otherwise we were very well received and had a really good time at Tokaanu. Access to Whakapapa Village for Tongariro National Park hikes is 35 minutes by car. Good value for money.

This place has a lot going for it; the free hot pools, free internet, easy location and access to all the park has to offer. At first glance it looked a bit like it's in a time warp, but there's new flooring, new cupboards, new bathroom etc, so it's obvious that money has been spent on keeping this place up to date. For me there's a few touches that could make it so much better. For example, robes, so you can walk between the pools and your room without having to get dressed, undressed and dressed again. More towels. Daily re-stock of tea/coffee/milk. But all in all would i come again - most definately, YES.

Clean and a good bed, and being able to use the hot pools was a lovely bonus. Everything worked well, and the hosts were friendly. This is an economic stay (not a luxury place), but if you are okay with a place to rest, basic & clean, with access to hot pools from morning til evening, then enjoy.

We had just one night at the lodge. It was fine and suited our needs, though unfortunately their thermal pools were closed when we visited. That would have added a nice touch. Our cabin was roomy if somewhat dated, though it looked like some improvements had been made in recent years. Importantly, everything worked, including the wifi. Kitchen was well equipped. Was quite chilly in the cabin though and couldn't see much in the way of heating apparatus - I hate to think what it is like in mid-winter.
