Fairfield Inn & Suites Memphis Olive Branch

We choose this hotel because we previously have had great experiences at Fairfield Inns. Our power went out after a storm and we drove 30 minutes to stay at a Fairfield Inn that accepted dogs. Nothing indicated the hotel was under construction when we booked. There was a sign on the front that said to use the side doors because of renovations. The side doors were literally propped open with a stick for anyone to come in at 10:30pm. There was dirt caked all throughout the hallway leading to the lobby and sheets of plastic hanging everywhere. We were exhausted so I went ahead with checking in only for the attendant to then tell us that the key maker was broken so the only way in our room was for a staff member to let us in (every time we left and returned). I was SHOCKED she didn’t give me this information before I checked in. Another woman came to the desk and said a staff member had let strangers into her room!! The attendant told the woman the names of the people who were let in and they realized the names were similar and had initially taken the second couple to that woman’s room. She also told the woman the room the other couple was staying in. Isnt that information supposed to be kept private?! I asked to cancel because I felt completely unsafe. She did cancel it but said I was still charged and wasn’t sure how I would get a refund from corporate. Cool. Drove another 30 minutes to a Hampton Inn that felt safe, clean, and had no surprises.

Very friendly staff. Not far off highway. Sleeps 5 adults almost comfortably with a king and sofa bed. Good price. Clean.

Hotel was currently under renovation during our stay- which was not made known at the time of booking online through the Marriott App. Hotel was fine for one night with plenty of food options within walking distance. My biggest complaint about not knowing about the renovation was more than half the parking lot was closed which made it more challenging to park towing a U-Haul trailer. The front desk was accommodating in moving my room to the other side of the hotel so I could keep an eye on my trailer overnight

The suite we got was newly renovated but felt rushed and cheap. Weird smell in the room masked by air freshener, and several issues like a missing TV cord, broken closet, and terrible shower pressure (to call it a light drizzle would be too kind - I’ve never experienced anything like it). Service was mediocre, and breakfast was so bad we ate elsewhere on day two. Not a place we’d return to — older Fairfield Inns are often better.

There are renovations going on, which did not bother us. Updates are good. Our bed was comfortable. The bathroom was excellent and clean. When we went into our room, part of the curtain was hanging down, which gave the impression of being unkempt. It's a small thing, but should be taken care of before the next guests. Breakfast was okay. Not a fan of packaged items. Also, when I tried to use the toaster, the lever popped off. The lever on the other side was also broken. When I approached the attendant, she said they had just gotten that toaster. At any rate, there was not another toaster...so that was disappointing. Checkout was smooth and all staff greeted us and were helpful throughout the property.

The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was really comfortable and clean. My only complaint, and I know it is not necessarily the fault of the hotel, was the smell of "medicinal products" in many areas.
