Six Senses Laamu

We liked everything ! Perfect Maldivian resort with every above expectations ! We stayed one week in August in over the water ocean villa, the villa is of a good size for a family of three, we paid for full board package but didn’t eat enough during the lunch to justify the additional cost, I recommend a half-board as a better option. Special thanks to our host Maftuna and surfing team for helping to enjoy our stay at full.

Every day of our 2 week stay was spectacular. The setting is magical but what stood out was the care and attention to detail - the decor, the food, the service - all exceptional. The Tropicsurf team and our GEM, Abdulla, are already sorely missed.

We had the pleasure of staying in one of the over-water sunset villas during August, which was absolute Paradise. Everything from arrival to departure was flawless. The attention to detail, level of service, friendly staff, and exceptional food is unrivaled at any other resort I've ever stayed in. The range of watersports and activities meant there was constantly something new to be doing, and the over-water villa provided the most stunning location to recuperate before heading out to explore one of the many great restaurants. Our highlight was the Tepenyaki restaurant but the Mediterranean fine dining 'Leaf' was also exceptional. A special mention goes to Pablo our GEM who organised and booked our whole itinerary from stepping off the sea-plane to leaving. He was super attentive, charming and really went the extra mile to ensure our stay was truly unforgettable. We can't wait to visit again!

We’ll recommend Six Senses Laamu to everyone for the rest of our lives. Our stay at this resort was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the entire team at the dock. A GEM (Guest Experience Maker) is assigned to each guest to assist with any questions, help book activities, and ensure everything runs smoothly. We were lucky enough to have Sina as our GEM! Our experience at Six Senses Laamu was nothing short of amazing. We particularly loved the resort's barefoot philosophy, which encourages guests to kick off their shoes and fully embrace the island lifestyle. We didn’t wear shoes for the entirety of our vacation, and it was so freeing! We want to emphasize that our holiday experience was made 100 times better because of the incredible people who work on the island. -Alshan, our lovely waiter whom we looked forward to seeing every morning at breakfast. He made us laugh with his jokes and brightened our days. -Warren, whose contagious smile and expert mixology skills made him our favorite bartender, especially with those incredible shrubs. -Hassan, who greeted us every day with a big smile and checked in to see how we were doing. -Dr Ash who helped heal my leg after an unfortunate water-skiiing fall. -Hi Shaam, our lovely waister who was incredibly sweet and attentive! Last but not least, Sina, our wonderful GEM, made sure every aspect of our stay was perfect. He was incredibly hospitable throughout our entire stay, going out of his way to ensure everything was easygoing and enjoyable. We truly enjoyed his company when he checked in on us each day. We also want to extend our gratitude to everyone on the island. We regret not noting down all the names!!Special thanks to the bartenders at Chill Bar and Sip Sip, ALL the amazing waiters, the out-of-this-world chefs at the breakfast buffet and dinner (especially at Teppanyaki!), Sarita, our lovely yoga teacher who introduced us to aerial yoga, and Ihaka, who was so kind and clearly an incredible support system for the crew. Thank you to the fantastic housekeeping team for keeping our place spotless, the men and women who kept the beaches and sandy paths pristine, the surf crew, diving crew, and the water sports team, who all made our experience unforgettable. We had the opportunity to stay at several resorts in the Maldives, and I can confidently say that Six Senses Laamu is the best we have ever experienced. Everything was impeccable, from the moment we arrived in Male to the time of check-out. Six Senses Laamu is one of the most remote resorts in the Maldives, as it is the only one located on the Laamu atoll, making it unique, secluded, and teeming with marine life. The entire experience at Laamu is "barefoot"—literally, no one wears shoes! The laid-back style is reflected in the design and ambiance of the accommodations, all built from wood and in perfect harmony with the resort and location. The island offers a wide array of activities, and one week was simply not enough! I highly recommend the sustainability tour and a visit to the Shell (Marine research center), both of which were very impressive and showcased the resort's efforts to minimize its impact on the environment. The dining options are also plentiful. We enjoyed amazing sushi at Zen and had one of the most delicious pizza lunches. The teppanyaki dinner was also a lot of fun! Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing team that runs the resort. Many employees work together to ensure everything runs seamlessly. In particular, Pablo, our GEM, took great care of us in a polite and approachable manner, creating an unforgettable itinerary, and we are very thankful to him. The stay at the Six Senses Laamu was an experience of a life time (but now planning to return!), from the moment you get in the sea plane you feel like you are dreaming. When you arrive to the resort you really have to pinch yourself to make sure that what you are seeing is real. We stayed at a Villa in the middle of jetty A and the view of the open sea and sea life was magnificent, my wife got to experience snorkeling for the first time and she loved it. Everybody seems to know your name and congratulated us on our 30th. wedding anniversary, this adds to their personal touch. The cherry on the cake was our GEM Soba, he took care of us like we are part of his family, he let us know of some perks we were entitled to by being an IHG Diamond Elite member. We stayed at the six senses for a week in August. Unforgettable trip, everything perfect from arrival to the experiences that are offered to guests such as snorkeling and water sports. We were immersed in nature and the fantastic sea pampered by the fantastic staff of the resort, including Abdulla GEM and Hassan F&B manager. All the staff impeccable. We'll be back for sure

Our 3rd stay at Six Senses Laamu for a family of 7 . (ages 7-73) We loved our 2,5 weeks here . Everyone was occupied. Diving team (especially Izas? ) are superb . Surfing is awesome and the guys are top notch my 16 y o teen was out every day. The food is the best in Six Senses out of the 25 islands we visited over the last 18 years. Last 2 were this April so the memories are fresh) . Ayada (limited spicy food questionable quality) Fairmont (great, lots of options, smth you will expect in a large 5 star hotel). We love options at Six Senses Laamu the most . Not as extensive as Fairmont or One and Only but way better execution, similar to Gili. Might not be to everyone's taste but I consider the options here are plentiful and super healthy . Good variety of interesting options. Among all of us after 3 visits we can definitely say we tried every single flavour of ice cream many times and probably 90% of the menu. Nothing was ever disappointing . I read comment about resort water not being free for dinner. Well sadly it is the case in many hotels in the Maldives. Only Fairmont offers soft drinks absolutely free of charge with your HB. None of the other 24 resorts we visited did free water but it's not a deal breaker for us. The water is free in the gym, the ice cream shop, the kids club, just not the restaurants. The kids club is amazing.My my little one made many new friends and also met a few from last year. My teen regrets not doing biology for her A levels ... because now she wont be able to be a Marine Biologist at SSLaamu:-)) Other resorts did not inspire my kids to be anything but rich :-) While there are many beautiful resorts in the Maldives , we can recommend Six Senses for anyone looking for a relaxing no-shoes atmosphere, good service , fantastic food, lots of well run activities, beautiful dive sites. If you are after One and Only or Cheval Blanc vibe it's not here and you will be disappointed . If you like Soneva feel or Gili - give this a shot . We dont take many clothes our suitcases are full of dive masks, fins etc)) ( yes, you can get gear at the dive centre too). Theres just no need for anything fancy at all. But for some people including myself it's a definition of a holiday and relaxation. Forget about your cocktail dresses and shoes. Many many repeaters here by the way. ( Ice cream cafe is a great place to meet people)))
