Alfagar Aparthotel

We stayed in a prestige apartment which was lovely. Everything was clean and fresh. The kids had their own separate sleeping area which was nice and the room had 2 separate entrances to the balcony which was huge! The sea view from the room was also lovely. The complex is big and has many pools which are all clean and well kept. We were extremely lucky as we arrived around 12.30pm and our room was ready as we were expecting to be hanging around until 4pm. We walked around the resort, found the beach which is down some steep steps but you get used to it after a couple of trips. We visited Buganvilla for lunch and it was quite nice, kids and I had burgers and hubby had sardines (really nice). The bill was around 70 euros for 4 of us with drinks - 2 alcohol and 2 soft drinks. The main issue I had was with the Oliviera restaurant for breakfast and dinner. I was quite underwhelmed with the variety for breakfast and dinner and wish I had done self catering. I also found that a lot of the time we had to ask for cutlery as the tables weren’t made up. The queues at dinner time were also sometimes an issue as it’s one way in and out and the staff member allocating you a table was also taking payments for people leaving who had to pay for their drinks. I think this could be easily sorted with 2 members of staff. All the staff on the complex were lovely and extremely helpful with any queries. The hotel is 2 minutes from a local Spar supermarket which we used practically everyday which also has a section which serves cakes/pastries and hot drinks. We used Bolt and Uber which are a great way to get around and very reasonably priced. It costs between 4-5 euros to get to the ***** and 4-7 euros to get to The old town. Overall the hotel is really lovely and would definitely stay again but would have to book on a self catering basis.

We spent a week here (self catering) with our 13 year old twin boys in August. We paid extra for the Prestige apartments with a sea view which really made the holiday for us. The apartment was done up to a high standard with a really big balcony with a table and 4 chairs and 2 sunbeds. This hotel is a complex of I think 3 different Alfagar hotels but they all link (except Colina which was across the road) . It felt very spacious with lots of greenery and very sympathetically done. We mostly stayed by the pool outside the Prestige apartments. It could get busy for seats after 11 am but no major rushing to put down towels. The hotel does not do all inclusive which was a good thing as not loads of people drinking all day . It is about 25 min walk in to Albuferia. We walked in one evening for dinner and then walked out again! It is very busy with traffic and not really a family place in the evening. We ate in the hotel Buganvilla restaurant twice . There is a lovely Italian restaurant called Portebello which is about 5 min walk away, towards Albuferia. Tried to go back on Saturday but shut on Saturdays! We did not hire a car so you will need to get taxis for a lot of places. Uber is about half the price compared to the taxis the hotel was offering. We went to Slide and Splash water parc. This cost approx £23 each way in a taxi. Cost us approx £8 to get the the Marina. Lots of trips go from here and we did a morning boat and kayak trip to the Benagil Caves, which I would recommend. We had a lovely lunch at the Marina afterwards. I would definitely recommend this hotel . The only negative is that I didn't think much of main Albuferia so it might be nice to be somewhere where you can walk along a nice promenade and a nicer choice of restaurants. Saying that, we were only there for a week and we felt we had enough choice . We did not venture to Albuferia old town as we had read bad reviews if that area in the evening but it might have been ok. All the staff at the hotel seemed friendly and helpful.
