We came here on our honeymoon after being married in St Lucia. On arrival at the airport we waited an hour for a ride to the hotel which was the first thing. On arrival at the hotel we were just left in reception didn’t really know what to do, so we went to the desk to ask about check in and the girl gave me a disgusting look and said “you don’t check in here”. I don’t know how I was supposed to know that. Once we were told to go to the concierge lounge we sat there for another 15 mins. Finally, when someone came to check us in she said the room wouldn’t be ready till 3pm, so that was fine we would just go have lunch. I asked about an upgrade because we were on honeymoon and she said all the rooms were taken in the hotel. Bit disappointing, and found it hard to believe. Anyway, we got to our room and although the room itself was nice we felt very far away from the hotel we were right at the back looking out onto neighbourhoods from the front door. There was some dampness in the bathroom and the shower ran too hot or too cold. The beds were comfortable and the balcony is nice with the bath tub. The staff at this hotel seem to have an attitude problem, particularly the females. Anything we asked we got a look and eye rolling. We felt that we weren’t important enough because we didn’t have a butler. For us spending £4500 is A LOT of money, and we saved very hard so this is disheartening. They seem to think we’re all rich and maybe that’s why they treated us like that. We are middle class working people, we can’t afford butlers and wouldn’t have one even if we could. We just wanted a room with a pool view as an upgrade. In St Lucia they couldn’t have done enough for you, they left us petals on the bed celebrating us and champagne on arrival. I would’ve expected something from this hotel, so bit disappointing. The food at this hotel is average, the chi, butchs and American tavern were probably the only 3 I could recommend. We went out of the hotel on our last night and the food was outstanding, so it tells me sandals are using cheap products but charging high prices. I noticed a lot of dirty plates and rubbish lying around the hotel, sometimes for days. We ordered room service one morning for breakfast but they never came. Our honeymoon was not what we thought and that’s a shame given how long we saved up. We decided to hire a car and do our own thing on our last days. We will now be saving again for another couple of years to go somewhere else for our honeymoon as we don’t feel we had it.
