Living in Oegstgeest we occasionally go to Oud-Poelgeest for dinner, particularly when there are special events where we can enjoy the dinner in the castle itself. The castle and surroundings are unique, beautifully green and quiet while very close to the Leiden city center. Last night we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant which is situated in the coach house next to the castle. There is a new chef in the kitchen since may and we tried the Chef's menu, which tasted great. They used a lot of fresh vegetables, including the seasonal white asparagus, as well as well tasty salmon (starter) and tenderloin (main). A significant improvement compared to an earlier visit this year, which was a bit disappointing, but now the dinner experience is back at a level you expect in such a beautiful setting. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.

Simpele kamer met piepkleine badkamer en aparte, krappe wc. Geen stopcontacten naast het verder wel goeie bed. Helaas stond de wind verkeerd want onder aanvliegroute Schiphol dus vroeg wakker. Ontbijt niet erg uitgebreid maar wel voldoende. Diner (2 keer) te weinig keus uit 2 keer zelfde beperkte kaart. Kwalieit ook niet echt top. Aardig personeel wel. Hotel ziet er mooi uit maar helaas ligt terras aan verkeerde kant voor de zon. Alles bij elkaar wat tegenvallend.

Trevligt och välskött. Vacker park. God mat i restaurangen.
Mitt enda minus är att den separata toaletten, som låg bredvid duschen, inte hade eget handfat, det är orimligt att behöva ta i två handtag innan man kan tvätta händerna.

Samen met mijn zoon hier een nachtje verbleven. Om te beginnen kom je al op een prachtig terrein aan. Bij binnenkomst heel warm ontvangen, erg vriendelijk en mee gekeken bij de vragen die we hadden. De kamer was van alle gemakken voorzien. Fijne bedden, kussens, prachtige badkamer en een heerlijke regendouche. Thee en koffie goed voorzien op de kamer (zelfs caffeinnevrij) Ontbijt goed en lekker. Mooie plek om te eten ook. Wederom personeel erg vriendelijk. Toen we na het uitchecken zijn gaan fietsen en natgeregend zijn mochten we op een kantoor rustig droge kleding aan doen. Service die een verblijf extra prettig maakt. Enig aandachtspuntje zou de sfeer op de kamers zijn. Die is wat basic op het oog (op comfort niet)
