The **** classification does not correspond to Swiss or German standards. The rooms are functional and clean. The safe is mounted in the wardrobe at a somewhat inconvenient location at floor level. Modern box-spring beds guarantee a good night's sleep. The included breakfast buffet is impeccable (hot/cold) and also includes various local specialties. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. However, if you are looking for peace and quiet, you have come to the wrong place - there is a very busy main road with a junction right in front of the hotel. Nevertheless, book a room with a sea view and balcony (unfortunately there are only a few with a balcony). Without a sea view, it is much quieter - but without a view. On the other hand, you can walk to the beach in 5 minutes. A lounger with a parasol costs 10 Lev (1 Lev = 05. cts/Rappen) for the whole day. You can stretch out on a suitable lounger or get one from the pile - the cashier will collect the money later. The sea is very clean and was "bathtub warm" in August. The kilometer-long "Golden Beach" slopes gently and is particularly suitable for small children. Also 5 minutes from the hotel is the harbor, which has been converted into an amusement park, with 10 very good restaurants for every taste - I never paid more than 20 francs per meal with starter/main course, drinks and coffee. An espresso costs 0.75 cents! 2 liters of local beer costs 2.5 francs. To the right of the hotel there is a kilometer-long promenade, which is separated from the beach by around 30 restaurants and various beach bars. All of them are recommended and extremely cheap and of very good quality. Payment is made in cash with Lev or credit card - some bars only accept Lev. Euros are not in demand - exchange offices can be found 15 minutes from the hotel in the city center (app "maps.me" highly recommended, as maps are also available offline; Exchange nearby "The New Yorker" has very customer-friendly rates.) Tip: Never change money on the street - you are almost 100% sure you will be scammed! Unfortunately, very few Bulgarians speak English - boys are the most likely to speak English; you can always get by with your hands and feet. Food: We don't recommend beef steaks as they are rather unknown. Instead, you can get meatballs, sausages and chicken in all variations and of course freshly caught fish and seafood - usually very tasty from the grill. Conclusion: Highly recommended for anyone who values the location and doesn't mind a bit of traffic noise/fairground in the port. What is immediately noticeable: Varna is a very clean city - I have never seen any rubbish lying around. Flights to Varna with Austrian Airlines via Vienna - unfortunately there are very few direct flights from Switzerland. Tip: Don't let the hotel organize an airport transfer - order a normal taxi and charge 15 francs for it. Take a taxi yourself directly from the airport and pay 7.5 francs!
