The rooms are dated, but the location and the service make up for it. The Jamaican meals were insanely delicious, the beach bar was so perfect and the beach was stunning . It really is a magical spot.

i tried to keep it cute on another review platform and the hotel's social media people wrote a really unpleasant reply, so i'll give my real review here. i paid for a "honeymoon" room, which was advertised as walk out to beach with direct ocean view. they stuck me directly behind the bar. like, ten feet behind the bar. take a look at the photos i've attached. on top of that, on the weekend there was a higgler lady who unpacked several suitcases of t-shirts, towels and jewelry, DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MY VERANDAH. literally 5 feet in front of where i would have sat, if i wanted to be on my verandah, enjoying my gorgeous view of the bamboo bar. when she started an extremely loud phone conversation directly in front of my face, i grabbed my portable speaker and cranked up some afrobeats at top volume to drown her out. the room itself was not horrible, but nowhere near as "recently renovated" as the photos they show online for that room category. there were two different types of hair (one was curly, one was straight) on a wall by the bathtub. there was no plug for the bathtub. the shower curtain was thin and had no liner, so the entire bathroom floor was soaked, and a slip-and-fall hazard. i brought a bunch of produce with me (to bring to my next accommodation) and it all froze and i had to throw everything out. the safe didn't work, but i didn't care because i brought my own safe. and yes, the hotel was jam packed with a group of german package tourists. chain smokers, thong bikini wearers, topless sunbathers... they took up the entire motel. they walked back and forth in front of my verandah nonstop. the couple next to me scraped their metal chairs against the hard verandah floor from 11am to 3am each day/night. the jamaican day trippers were awesome. the people who worked the bar were very nice. everyone else, guests and staff, were terrible. i would have preferred they give me a heads up that they were going to stick me in a terrible room in a hotel filled with chain smoking, half naked german package tourists, but oh well. i learned the hard way.

Recently stayed here with 2 friends August 2022. I can honestly say it is a very BASIC hotel. Firstly, finding the entrance to the hotel was complicated as the sat nav takes you else where. Once you eventually arrive, the front of the hotel looks VERY old and needs a lot of TLC. At Check-in the Receptionist (Male) barely made eye contact let alone greeted us. Check-in process was ok but I could tell straight away the staff could not care less about the guests. We where given the keys to our room without any directions given and had to go find it ourselves. The hotel it self is very dark and musty inside. Our room was ok - expect the bare minimum. Bathroom needs more light and the water pressure needs to be looked into. The beds seemed clean and comfortable. The patio doors hardly worked and the curtains had holes in them. The Balcony was rusty and dirty, there was also a gap between the patio doors and the wall. This shows they couldn't even connect the balcony doors to the walls which is an open invitation to the wildlife Jamaica has to offer. They try to hide this with the curtains/drapes. Food - Breakfast was basic but edible. They have a set Lunch/Dinner menu which we tried the first 2 nights but found it to be quite pricey for what you get. The food was ok. We found the cocktails to be extremely sweet. Once we ventured out we found a seafood restaurant near by with AMAZING food! Would definitely recommend. Local attractions - We spent most of the time on the beach as it was very relaxing and chilled (Which is the best part about this hotel). Right next to the hotel there is a local beach where on the weekends you will find families pulling up in buses and Taxis bringing a lot of noise - This is where the 'Relaxing' feel ends. There is also a river 2 mins away where you can go rafting (Not worth the money). Staff - Clearly didn't want to be there. I asked numerous times for some housekeeping to get our room cleaned and towels changed which took about 3 days for them to actually come (the day before we left). Staff could be more professional and welcoming. They are easily irate and come across rude most of the time. The only staff member I can say was pleasant was the cleaner. Overall, not a location for young females currently. Leaving the hotel late at night is a hit or miss as the locals chilling will harass you as you walk by. Some people may find this uncomfortable and the road is very dark with little lighting. So a Taxi (From reception) is needed to go anywhere at night. This hotel has so much potential! with a BIG renovation, new management and new staff this hotel would be perfect for a retreat holiday.

First - who we are: not the all inclusive type, comfort campers (air mattress yes please) , well traveled, interested in diving into local culture. Picked this place for a last minute much needed getaway. Super reasonable, love Ocho Rios, done. What you need to know: zero amenities in the room. one towel per person, one bar of soap that doesn't lather. All I could think of was all the shampoo/conditioner/lotion samples back home. Sheets on a bare mattress!!! No cover UGH. Furnishings, rough rough rough. Water pressure, minimal. Hot, sometimes. Water went off twice during the stay. Beyond inconvenient. It's a pressure valve that needs to be replaced. HELLO - please fix it! Breakfast included, choice of eggs/bacon or Jamaican option (stewed kidneys, ackee, dumplings). Good coffee. Funky beach bar which is under stocked - employees don't seem empowered to do their job. We brought our own club soda and limes. Wished for sour sop daiquiris other signs of local fruits. Sigh. Make sure you have plenty of cash, and change too - the front desk never has change, Jamaican or US. What we loved: (and why we didn't leave). The location - in a lovely cove, at the mouth of the White River, next to a local beach, so lots of families, kids jumping off the pier, very cozy. The real, old school Jamaica, We liked that. I'm a swimmer, and swimming back and forth was heaven every morning. The staff was lovely, very genuine and warm. We liked our Rasta friend Ricky, an informal hotel employee who rakes the beach and seems to know how to make things work. Re: food, the menu was basic and usually pretty good. Steamed red fish with escovitch was a highlight. Steve at Fish Pot has the freshest fish around down the road a few minutes. You'll pass through folks intent on selling you stuff on the way. Finally - Mgmt: please leave a stocked first aid kit at the front desk 24/7. I cut my arm on some glass and had to wrap it and hope for the best. It just seems like whoever owns this place doesn't put $$ into it - replace those tired ass beach loungers - don't paint them -- the paint flecks off on your back. And that beach mattress. when was the last time that was switched out. yuck. I'm not planning to return to KK, but I'm (mostly) glad we went.

The environment and surroundings were nasty and unsightly. It would be better to cotch on the beach than stay in such a dilapidated place. This is not the standard that Jamaica offers to anyone, and if's unfortunate they have a hotel license. One now understands why payment is non-refundable, and as another traveler mentioned , you are being "Catfished". Place need fi lock down.

This place was such a CATFISH. Maybe it's safe to say because we're locals we were assigned rooms based off that. I stayed there for my birthday weekend. The purpose of the stay wasn't for the property really. We had excursions and other outings so it was just for us to sleep. Regardless of that, the experience needed to ne worthwhile. What if I wanted to take a nice photo there for my birthday? 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ The scenery was just a no no.. 1. The pictures on the website are the biggest lie!!! 2. The wifi and regular mobile data barely worked in the room we got- second floor, 204 (even though it's stated that wifi works in all rooms and across the property, LIEEEE!!! 3. One of the lamps in the room didn't work, the power outlet seemed like it would break if you plugged/ unplugged too much and the iron was useless. 4. The condition of the faucets in the shower are very poor. 5. The 'waitress' at breakfast (processed hair wearing glasses) didn't even acknowledge us when we were seated or asked which juice we wanted. She just brought something without asking. I was so pissed. Imagine sleeping in your nice proper room and going here thinking it would be ok.. This place can't even be compared to my room. I don't know why this place is even on *******. Such a waste of money.
