The Grange at Oborne

Stayed with family for a ruby wedding anniversary meal. The rooms were lovely and beautifully comfortable (although the two rooms we had booked together were at opposite ends of the building). The courtyard/balcony for every room is a nice touch and the gardens are gorgeous - we couldn't believe how lush they are! Dinner was fine, but I expected a bit more than fine to be honest. Both my sisters ordered the steak which was described on the menu as 'medium rare' and one requested for it to be on the rarer side. When they came out, one was completely cooked through and the other had a faint hint of pink. After deliberating, they did request for them to be re-cooked and waited another 20mins for them to come back out by which time the rest of us had finished. They were accompanied with a retort from the chef about how the cut of meat should be cooked. It was NOT cooked as advertised on the menu in the first place and I am surprised it was sent out as it came to the table pre-sliced so he/she was certainly able to check. We also had two small new-potato sized potatoes and a thumb sized amount of veg with the main course each. All was nice-tasting (not exceptional), but if you are hungry expect to pay for three courses. Aside from that, the waiting staff were lovely (nothing was too much trouble), the wine list is well thought through and breakfast was great. If we do go again I would perhaps do so with much lower expectations for the food.

I loved this Hotel ,it looks and feels very special ,everything in our rooms was spotless and the staff so kind and pleasant .I will make it there definitely again when visiting family .

Having four almost adjacent rooms gave us the opportunity to feel that we had our own suite of rooms. The beds were described by all as most comfortable, and the rooms were well equipped. Love the terrace which was part of our rooms, and provided the perfect family get together space.

Lovely place and people but needs a good clean - including windows, carpets, dead flies on window sills in bedroom and restaurant and cobwebs in bedroom.

An absolutely beautiful room in a perfectly quiet location, all you could hear were the birds outside, no traffic - bliss! The hotel is wonderfully maintained and breakfast was perfect. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back!
