Location: The hotel is highly praised for its prime location, with easy access to ski lifts, ski schools, and bus stops. Many guests appreciated the convenience for skiing and hiking, with some mentioning the proximity to local shops and restaurants.

A hotel of two halves as it were - rooms very comfortable, cleaned well by excellent staff, and reasonable boot room (albeit with only a few slots for heated dryers for boots). Bus stop outside so quite good access and some handy local shops (ski hire, supermarket). However, this hotel, and it's catering, is a family run business and is run for the benefit of the patriarch and matriarch. Fair enough but customer service is not a priority. They say dinner is available between 6pm and 8pm, but this is not true - get there after 7pm and they are hostile and often run out of the choices you were made to choose at breakfast. The patriarch chef is very hostile, and the food is not freshly cooked but served from a hotplate and is not self service and sometimes items you ordered i n the morning have run out. The starters are self service but if you attend after 7pm then they run out of some things. Water has to be paid for, and when one of our party brought her own water bottle and served it in a glass, the next night the glasses were removed from the table (petty). Also, as soon as you finish a course, a waiter immediately takes it away, despite others at the table still eating - very rude. Plus when it gets past 8pm they make a fuss of preparing the tables for breakfast, and ask you to leave. If you want any cheese, you are lucky to find it as they clear away the starters and the cheese board after 8pm. They want you out of the way. One companion was pescaterian, but on at least 2 nights, no vegetarian or fish option was offered, and the patriarch chef almost gleeful when challenged. As for breakfast, no fruit juice provided, just some execrable cordial (really horrible), scrambled eggs and bacon on the buffet just warm, and a fruit salad which after a few days was clearly not fresh every day, as my companions said it was fermenting with bubbles. When a complaint was made, the matriarch was rude and dismissive. Very poor. I felt sorry for the daughter who was nice and helpful, and clearly embarrassed at the regime run by her parents. Yes I know running a hotel is hard work. The patriarch's view was. if you don't like it, go somewhere else. My view is, if you don't like running a hotel and giving customer service, then do something else. Won't be coming to this hotel again until under new management!

With the potential to be a great hotel. It looks like it has had a fair bit of money spent on it recently as the public areas are excellent, fresh and contemporary. When we arrived we thought we really had scored! However the two main members of staff (brother and sister we thought) couldn’t have been anymore unhelpful. Never a good morning or a hello. The hotel was plunged into darkness before 9pm most nights. You couldn’t get a drink at the full stocked bar or contact reception should you need assistance. Even when I tried using the room phone there was no answer. The food, well where to start. The breakfast looked like it had been put out after dinner the night before and left til the morning. You have to accept that when you go to a traditional Austrian hotel perhaps everything is not going to be to your liking but to not even be able to get toast at breakfast is not ideal. Free tap water at breakfast but not at dinner time. Boiled beef🤢. This hotel was in a great location for the buses and the lifts but the owners seem to have lost interest in hospitality. Perfect if your just after a bed but steer clear if your looking for hospitality

We visited the Hotel Alpenaussicht two years ago and liked it and Obergurgl so much, we went back. The hotel has been completely renovated with a new bar and restaurant area which are very smart. The bar is delightful with comfy chairs and great views. What we didn't like so much is the buffet service for the main course. Happy to have a buffet for salads, starters and soup but the main course would have been better served nicely on a plate and correctly garnished. Generally the food was warm rather than hot and although reasonably tasty, it didn't look very appetising. The staff are delightful and very helpful, the rooms are generally spacious and the shower was excellent The location is ideal as it is a very short walk to the drag lift which then leads to the Festkogelbahm cable car.

The food was terrible, coffee was lousy, either a large earn of black coffee or a push button machine. No toaster the fruit juice was like cordial, very watery. The 'hot' buffet breakfast was lukewarm either scrambled omelette or eggs which were hardboiled, v greasy bacon and sausages. Nothing cooked to order, no Danish pastries etc. The evening meal was similar, the main issue being the lukewarm food served from a hotplate, nothing cooked to order. We were served veal five times in the week. Most of he staff were sullen and unfriendly especially those on reception. The chef/owner was particularly rude. I heard him say to an elderly couple who had complained about their room that if they did not want it he would show them the door!

We stayed here for a week with 3 families (10 people) across 4 rooms for a ski holiday. The short version is that this family-owned hotel tries hard and seems to invest in the property, but is some way off a 4 star experience which is what they market themselves at. Hence only a three star review and I think the family has a choice: take off a star, invest, or just experience the regular disappointed review (overall the hotel was full and hence they seem to be doing something right at the current price point) Location and ski-ing: The location is great and very close to the lifts and a bus station. The boot room of the hotel is a bit cosy and small, but overall from a ski-ing experience perspective, the hotel is ideally located (sometimes the wait for the bus can be a bit long) Hotel facilities and staff: The reception and bar area seems to have been recently refurbished and looks very nice. The Spa/Sauna is very decent although doesn't have a pool and no massages. There have been comments from prior visitors on the friendliness of staff. I didn't observe this and found them attentive and service oriented (all our requests were generally quickly sorted). The problem is however simple: there are not enough of them. This hotel tries to run with a minimum amount of staff which means you only have a restaurant buffet service and when the restaurant is open, the bar is generally not staffed and you can wait a long time to find someone (similar situation with reception). This hotel can do with a couple more staff to get the responsiveness up Restaurant/food: Some reviewers have described the restaurant as a high-end canteen, and that is probably a fair description. The owner is the main chef, and to his credit, a lot of the food coming out of the kitchen is quite tasty and cooked well. We also had a New Year's dinner at the hotel, which was done quite nicely given the amount of people. Where this place falls down is that a) it is a 4 star hotel and you simply can't get away with running a buffet only restaurant, b) the menu consists of a choice of three main courses and c) the restaurant runs a service between 6.00pm and 8.30pm (latest 'sitting' at 7.30pm). So effectively, if you come up to the buffet after 7.30pm, you are not guaranteed a full meal. Plus you have to flag your preferred choice in the morning - this is done to minimise food wastage which is a good thing, but having to decide in the morning what you want to eat at night doesn't exactly give you a nice holiday feeling. And while some food is quite tasty, if you don't like any of the three options, that's it... Rooms: We had a couple rooms in the main building (1st floor) which seems they had been refurbed and a couple of rooms in the lower building ('floor 6' at the bottom of the hotel) which were older. The rooms are spacious and clean. Shower pressure is good, water is hot. Sufficient storage space for clothes. And plenty of TV channels for different languages. That is however w

I travelled with my 13 yr old daughter to Obergurgl for a week’s skiing. We stayed at Hotel Alpenaussicht on half-board basis. Without exception, Family Ribis & Team were all very friendly, welcoming and went out of their way to help. Our room was an Austrian twin (twin beds joined together!), with a sofa bed in a separate sitting area which opened out onto a lovely balcony overlooking the mountains - superb alpine view. Great en-suite bathroom with heated floor and towel rail and separate toilet. Food here was plentiful in choice and excellent quality. Waiting staff all v attentive. Excellent separate Ski Room on ground floor, with lockers and heated ski boot racks. The hotel is very conveniently located for ski school (just across the road), ski/boot hire shop (opposite) and free ski shuttle bus stop right outside. It’s a short walk to the shop (MiniM), turn left from hotel entrance, a short walk into the village to the right. Good for lunch and the best hot choc in town is definitely Pic Nic (bear right past the church in the village). Thank you Family Ribis & Team for a wonderful week 🤗
