Stayed for 1 night to experience the onsen in this nice little village. A one night is more than sufficient to see the night light up, magical. This is a very modern looking ryokan but can be a bit impractical (in terms of light switches etc). But those are minor details. There are only 8 rooms and 5 baths to experience, that’s the main highlight. There is no reservation needed and all are private baths for the whole room. The food is average but then again food is not the highlight of this onsen village. The meal portion is sufficient. Service is impeccable and little English is spoken. If you drive, there is a carpark about 500m away and the hotel will sent someone to pick you up at the carpark. The only challenge I had was sleeping on the floor with the thin mattress, tough getting up and the light switches are many steps away. Meals are served in the room but if you travelling with a bigger group and want to have your meals together, it can be arrange on the ground floor. Highly recommended stay.

The guest is an elderly person who has a bad leg and uses a cane. I would like to give a few impressions of my stay. 1. Perhaps because I had told them in advance that I am an elderly person who uses a cane, I was given a room on the second floor close to the elevator. I was grateful for the upgrade to a room with a shower and bathtub, but after dinner, I walked around the gas-lit inn district and returned to my room, and when I tried to use the shower room in the corner of the room, there was no light in the shower room and it was pitch black. On top of that, the soaps were unsanitarily placed directly on the floor, so there was a risk of falling, and I ended up not being able to use the shower. Also, it was incomprehensible that there was only a bathtub placed next to the washroom without a curtain or other partition, so how could I use it, and did I mind if the floor got flooded? ??? ??? ??? 2. Since I couldn't use the shower and bathtub, I opened the door to the third floor bathroom, which had relatively few steps to reach, and for some reason I had to climb several steps for some reason, and when I finally reached the sink, there was a sign next to the mirror that said, "This bathroom is not available due to a broken shower." I think this kind of notice is usually posted at the entrance. ③ In the end, I went back to the first floor, changed my slippers, and used the bath on the first floor. After that, I tried to go back to my room, but my feet got tired and I couldn't climb the steps to change my slippers by myself, even after trying several times. I was sitting on a small chair in the pitch black of around 11pm, when a young employee who was engrossed in his computer screen next to the entrance came towards me, and I thought he would finally help me, but he passed me by without a second glance and ran up the stairs to the second floor. After a while, he passed me by again without a second glance and returned to his computer screen. What kind of inn is it to ignore elderly guests who are paying a fair amount for a stay and are sitting in the dark in the middle of the night? ④ There were three large air conditioning control panels in the room, but no matter how I operated them, the heating didn't work at all and I was shivering. At dawn, I noticed that there were two kerosene stoves, and I was finally able to warm myself up with them. It was nostalgic to use a kerosene stove for the first time in about 50 years, but I couldn't stand the smell. Finally, I would like to thank the young female staff member who drove me from the parking lot to the inn area. Thank you for carrying my carry-on bag.

It's a wonderful inn. It may be famous for its design by Kengo Kuma. Thank you for the thoughtfulness and the shuttle service from Oishida Station. The staff were also very hospitable. Their kindness was conveyed even in their simplicity. There are various comments, but it is natural to aim for service that satisfies 100 people, but there are many different types of people, so shouldn't people stay with their own thoughts? We were very, very satisfied. The amount of dinner was also amazing, and although I felt bad for everyone, I left quite a bit. I'm sorry. Although I was full from dinner, I was engrossed in talking until late at night and wanted to drink alcohol, so I ordered it outside of business hours, but they didn't refuse me over the phone and helped me. (I'm sorry for being selfish.) I wonder if it would be good to have an alcohol vending machine for such customers? I thought. This time I went to Ginzan without snow, but next time I would like to go to Ginzan with snow. Of course, I would like to stay at Fujiya again when I do so. Thank you very much!

My husband and I stayed in a special room. We knew from the start that the design was a priority and that it would be difficult to use, but we went to enjoy Kengo Kuma's design and the atmosphere of the city, so it wasn't a problem. There were several dead insects in the room, but considering we were in the mountains, it was tolerable. The room phone was broken, and we called the front desk twice but couldn't get through. We called from an outside line and someone came and checked right away. The phone was working by the time we got there. The large bath in the room had no partition or door, and having a bed next to it was unacceptable. When we were shown into the room, we expressed our surprise and expressed it out loud, but the young woman ignored us and didn't even bother to talk to us about it. The young man who picked us up from the parking lot was very polite and pleasant, but most of the staff were unfriendly. Both on the phone and in person, the young woman only responded "yes" to guests who were paying 100,000 yen a night and who were probably 20 to 30 years older than us. They need some re-education. Nothing about dinner was particularly tasty, and we didn't enjoy it at all. The Yonezawa beef steak may have been A5 rank, but it felt like it was swimming in sticky grease. I was hungry so I ate most of it, but it's best to assume that customers in this price range are used to a certain level of quality on a daily basis. The fruit for dessert and the rice for breakfast were very tasty. Unless they make a fundamental change in their approach and improve their service, I won't be returning or recommending them to others.

The only Western-style building in the hot spring town, this inn has only 8 rooms. There are 1 bath on the 3rd floor and 4 baths on the 1st floor, so I took a bath on the 1st floor. The water was hot, but it was good. Meals are served in the room, but the amount of food here is just right for women, although there are many ryokan that serve more than you can eat. Among them, I had the Yamagata specialty imoni (soy sauce flavor) for the first time, but it was so delicious. I went out after eating, but it was beautiful and wonderful with the lights of the inn and the street lights. The breakfast was adequate and delicious. It was a nice night. This is one inn that I would like to stay again.
